🍎 Teacher Tuesday Spotlight 🍎

Meet Ms. Andrea Swepson, a Speech-Language Pathologist at Topsail Annandale Elementary, who has dedicated 26 years to education (20 in NC). Ms. Swepson is being recognized for her expertise, compassion, and the way she goes above and beyond to support both students and families. She helps teachers address functional communication needs, guides families in understanding speech therapy services, and makes speech sessions fun, interactive, and goal-oriented. Her students take ownership of their progress and celebrate every milestone along the way.

What stands out most about Ms. Swepson is her authenticity and her willingness to share her expertise with others. She’s a trusted mentor and colleague, always stepping in to assist with IEP paperwork, interventions, and teacher support. One recent example shows her heart in action: when a student failed a hearing test and parents struggled to find an ENT, Ms. Swepson located one through the county. The student received necessary surgery, recovered, and no longer needed speech services—thanks to her determination and care.

💛💙 Thank you, Ms. Swepson, for your professionalism, mentorship, and dedication to helping students find their voice and thrive. You are a true asset to Topsail Annandale Elementary and Pender County Schools!

Because I stink 🦨at scheduling posts while on vacation, it's a "Two-fer" Teacher Tuesday because they each deserve a story to match their name. I'm Sorry!!!

🍎 Teacher Tuesday Spotlight 🍎

Meet Ms. Maggie Gregory, a Kindergarten teacher at Topsail Annandale Elementary School, who is being celebrated for her kindness, caring nature, and the way she goes above and beyond for her students. With 5 years of teaching experience, Ms. Gregory has already made a lasting impact on both her students and their families.

What stands out most about Ms. Gregory is her sweet and nurturing personality. She not only supports her current students but continues to show kindness to former students as well. One parent shared that when their child became very sick, Ms. Gregory had the entire class make get well cards that meant the world to their family.

Thank you, Ms. Gregory, for your caring heart, dedication, and the joy you bring into your classroom each day. Your students are lucky to learn and grow in such a loving environment! 💛💙

🍎 Teacher Tuesday Spotlight 🍎

Meet Ms. Roseanna Robertson, a dedicated Preschool teacher at Cape Fear Elementary School with over 20 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. What began as a job when she was just 17 quickly grew into a passion and a lifelong career in nurturing and inspiring young learners.

Ms. Robertson’s favorite subject to teach is math, because it’s concrete, hands-on, and can be woven into fun and meaningful activities that support children’s overall development. One of her most cherished teaching moments came when a concerned parent saw her child flourish in preschool.

Outside the classroom, Ms. Robertson enjoys supporting her children’s activities, attending community events, and even traveling across the country to do pageant hair and makeup. At home, she shares life with her pets: Blue the black lab, Honey the golden goldendoodle, Charlie the orange tabby cat, and Gabby the beta fish. Her favorite destination is the Cayman Islands, and her teaching philosophy is simple but powerful: build a nurturing, community-centered classroom that lays the foundation for lifelong learning.

💛💙 Thank you, Ms. Robertson, for your dedication, heart, and impact on our youngest learners at Cape Fear Elementary!

🧼💙 Let’s work together to keep PCS classrooms healthy!

✅ Encourage handwashing and covering coughs/sneezes
✅ Keep your child home if they have a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea
✅ Follow return-to-school guidelines for contagious illnesses like strep, pink eye, or chickenpox

By following these steps, we can limit the spread of germs and keep students learning. For more information, contact your school nurse or visit the CDC’s Infection Prevention Guidance for Schools: https://www.cdc.gov/orr/school-preparedness/infection-prevention/index.html
