Did you know? NASA Mars Rover, Curiosity, was named by a sixth grader in Kansas. Kids can do BIG things, like making an impact on our school! Watch today’s video at MyBooster.com

Our kindergarten teachers welcomed Mrs. Schlegel's child development students! 🎉 They just completed their Kindergarten Readiness lesson and enjoyed a visit to TAES, where they put their newfound skills to the test in real kindergarten classrooms. The middle school students did a fantastic job and our kindergarten students had so much fun!

Thank you to our PTA for Mrs. Herring's pizza party for winning the PTA membership drive!

Don't forget to stop by for spirit night tonight!

1st grade went on a walking field trip to the library as a culminating activity to go with our Wit & Wisdom Module 1 A World of Books, where they learned about how books change lives and how people around the world get access to books through libraries like ours, boats, donkeys, camel, and even elephants!

Kindergarteners went to Mike’s Farm, setting the stage for their next Wit & Wisdom module, once Upon a Farm. From feeding goats, to a hayride, enjoying apple cider and a hayride, it was a great day of learning and fun.

We had a special visit from Smokey the Bear today. Congratulations to Lily, one of our 4th graders, who won the poster contest!

It’s almost GO time! Have you signed up your student yet? Go to MyBooster.com today! We’re ready to have fun and raise some funds for our school! 🙌

Our 2nd graders are using money to relate to place value units!

Bats at Night! Kindergarten is learning about geometric shapes and primary colors in Art this week.

Family PE week has been so much fun! It has been a great week getting to share the PE experience with our parents and have so many smiling faces in the building. Shout out to Coach Redd for making this experience happen. Thank you to all of the families who have been able to join us. Share your photos in the comments!

🍎 Teacher Tuesday Spotlight 🍎
Meet Ms. Andrea Swepson, a Speech-Language Pathologist at Topsail Annandale Elementary, who has dedicated 26 years to education (20 in NC). Ms. Swepson is being recognized for her expertise, compassion, and the way she goes above and beyond to support both students and families. She helps teachers address functional communication needs, guides families in understanding speech therapy services, and makes speech sessions fun, interactive, and goal-oriented. Her students take ownership of their progress and celebrate every milestone along the way.
What stands out most about Ms. Swepson is her authenticity and her willingness to share her expertise with others. She’s a trusted mentor and colleague, always stepping in to assist with IEP paperwork, interventions, and teacher support. One recent example shows her heart in action: when a student failed a hearing test and parents struggled to find an ENT, Ms. Swepson located one through the county. The student received necessary surgery, recovered, and no longer needed speech services—thanks to her determination and care.
💛💙 Thank you, Ms. Swepson, for your professionalism, mentorship, and dedication to helping students find their voice and thrive. You are a true asset to Topsail Annandale Elementary and Pender County Schools!
