In Mrs. Horne's 5th grade ELA, students had the opportunity to research topics based on their current novel, "A River Between Us." Students researched topics such as WWI and the Ford Model T, as well as recreating scenes from the Civil War! Some students even created props for their plays! This was a creative way to not only learn about historical events but to understand how events affect characters throughout a story.

🚍 Help Us Prepare for 2025-26 Bus Routes! 🚍
The Pender County Schools Transportation Department is gearing up for the next school year, and we need YOUR help to ensure accurate bus assignments!
📢 Important Steps for Parents/Guardians:
✅ Check your child’s Parent Letter for their current bus stop details.
✅ If there are NO changes, return the form with all “YES”s circled by April 16, 2025.
✅ If changes are needed, update your info using the Student Ridership Survey (https://bit.ly/4lb0ZLF) by April 16, 2025.
⏳ Deadline Reminders:
🔹 Schools must update all transportation data in Infinite Campus by May 9, 2025.
🔹 The Google Form will NOT reopen during summer – all new student transportation requests will go through Infinite Campus.
📌 Let’s work together to ensure every PCS student has the right bus assignment on day one!

Hailey, Audrina, and Harper competed in the North Carolina State Science Fair at NC State in Raleigh today. They won a Special Award called the Promising Young Researcher Award. We are so proud of your hard work. You all represented Pender County Schools and Surf City Elementary so well! Way to go!!

As we welcome the beginning of April, let’s give back to our community by showering Share the Table with food drive donations! 🥫 Share the Table is our local food pantry providing resources and outreach services for people in need. They supply the food for our backpack program supporting students at our school.

Dear Surf City Families,

We're happy to share with you that Nik L. from Mrs. Holt's 2nd grade class is our Sea Turtle of the Week for the week of March 24-28. Nik, your school is proud of you. 💙🐢💚

WOW! What a special night for our Student Showcase. Our kids, teachers and families are fantastic. The energy in the building was high as students led their families around and talked them through all the learning that they're doing each and every day. 💙🐢💚

Good afternoon Surf City Families,
We were just made aware that Bus 240, both first and second runs, will be approximately 30-45 minutes late this afternoon. We apologized for the late notice and the inconvenience.
Thank you for your continued support for Surf City Schools.

Congratulations to our 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Faircloth! We could not be more proud of her and all that she does for all of our students and our school each and every day! 🌟

Try to find Mr. Rich sitting still, you will have a VERY hard time. He is constantly on the move looking for ways to make our school as clean as possible. Not only is our school more clean thanks to his efforts, but he also sets a great example of work ethic and taking care of the things we are trusted with.

After reading The Very Busy Spider, Ms. Meadows and Ms. Bryant's PreK class drew a bug using the characteristics of an insect and measured how many cubes tall their bug is. As a whole group they made a huge spider web using yarn and worked together as a team to build it strong enough for the plastic spider. 🕷

Check out Mrs. Rice's 4th graders 👀 Students are reading and analyzing popular Greek and Roman myths to discover what the myths explained, and how they relate to us today. After reading and discussing their myths, they created a group poster showing what they discovered. ✨

📚🌟 Student Showcase 🌟📚 We hope to see everyone at school Thursday evening for our Student Showcase/Curriculum Night.
