1st graders in Mrs. Edwards' class are busy previewing books as part of their Wit & Wisdom unit, A World of Books and working on math fact fluency. Keep up the great work!

Good morning! Our morning car rider line continues to gradually improve. Thank you for helping it to run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. We are still experiencing just a few parents parking and walking student to the cross walk instead of dropping off through the line like the other parents. This morning, parents were stopping the traffic to walk through which was creating a safety issue and also holding up the car rider line. Starting tomorrow 9/15, our SRO will be stationed in the parking lot. We ask that you please go through the car rider line to drop off your child. If you still insist upon parking and walking up, he will stop you and hold you until the car rider line has stopped and your child will cross. Parents will not be allowed across the cross walk. The tardy bell rings at 7:55. After 7:55, parents should park, walk up and check your child in with a tardy slip in the office. The only exception to this rule is students with an IEP with additional adult support who required hand to hand transfer in the mornings. Safety is the our #1 priority and will continue to drive decisions regarding the car rider line.

Dear Surf City Families,
We apologize for the late notice. Bus 291 will be 90 minutes late on Tuesday morning. The students will be picked up by bus 251.

Mrs. Monti's Kindergarten class is working on counting to tell how many and using numerals to show how many are in a group. Today students got to act out being a restaurant owner and a customer. They took turns ordering different amounts of pretend food and giving the shop owner a ticket with the same number as what they ordered. The shop owner then had to count out the correct amount of pretend food for their customer. Afterwards they switched roles and students had a chance to try out both jobs! 💵🍔

Bus 291's second run will be approximately 20 minutes ahead of schedule today. We have secured a driver to run this route for us today. Thank you for your patience as we maneuver through transportation changes.

This morning, our 5th graders got to participate in the annual Bridge Walk which is a community event, organized by the Surf City Fire Department, to honor the lives lost on 9/11 and celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of unity.. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

Starting Thursday off right with a good friend and a good book! 👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏾📖

Ms. Lagnese’s 4th grade class buddied up with Ms. Colant's kindergarten kiddos today to help them learn how to use their Chromebooks. Everyone enjoyed this so much!

We have good news!
Bus 288 morning route will not be 2.5 hours late! A driver has been found! Since she is not familiar with the route or the area, it may run a little slower than usual. Please be patient. This is much better than an 8:30 start time. Thank you!

Mrs. Holmes' 3rd graders are working on cooperation and getting to know each other with a team challenge activity. Their group had to create the longest paper chain with only 12 pieces of tape and one piece of paper.
