Mrs. Curry’s first grade class is learning about how books change peoples lives around the world. After reading Green Eggs and Ham, students wrote how books change their life. They also shared and responded to each other during our Socratic Seminar.

Mrs. Horne and Mrs. Oberle's ELA classes spent the day outside today defending their school from zombies in an exciting escape room adventure! Students had to work together to cite evidence to crack the codes and escape the zombie attacks!

The book fair was a huge success! Thank you to all who helped, shopped & supported. 📚

We're happy to share with you that Mia D. from Mrs. Mizell's 4th grade class is our Sea Turtle of the Week for the week of October 14-18 . Mia, your school is proud of you. 💙🐢💚

We are thankful to be a part of the compassionate Surf City Elementary community. At this time, as temperatures dip into the 30’s, we want our neighbors to the West to be kept warm. We are partnering with the Asheville community who are in need of new blankets, new coats and jackets, winter socks, and batteries. Thank you for all you are doing to serve and uplift others. Donation boxes will be in the front foyer of the school. Items will be delivered at the end of October.

Next week is Bullying Prevention Awareness week and we are wearing orange to show our support. 🧡

Our Sea Turtles are wearing yellow this week to support Special Needs Awareness Week. Here's a tip! Remember that we are all unique with positive qualities, take time to notice the positive in others today. 💛

2nd grade is busy! Mrs. Holt's class is building trick words, partner reading and practicing fluency while Mrs. Allen's class is learning the difference between vowel and consonant suffixes and when to use -es or -s to make a word plural.

Ms. Inman-Horne & Ms. Meneses' PreK kiddos are enjoying the sunshine while engaged in sensory play with sand and using scoops to work on small muscle control.

Today Mrs. Meadow's PreK class followed a recipe on how to make apple pie in a cup, followed by a sequencing activity! 🍎🥧
