Mrs. Allen's 2nd grade class read the geodes book called Cranberry Crop which had a recipe in the back for cranberry relish. After reading about how cranberries are harvested, they proved that cranberries really do float! They chopped apples (with plastic knives) and oranges and blended them with cranberries, honey and some juice and tasted some delicious cranberry relish along side fresh and dried cranberries. Yum!

Mrs. Burnett's third graders teamed up with Mrs. Full' s first graders to share their paragraphs about why and how scientists explore the ocean.







Mrs. Milliner's 2nd grade students are working to identify the main topic and key details. Students were assigned a season and had to use the text to find key details to explain how leaves change in that season. 🍂🍃🍁





Mrs. Batt's kindergarten students practiced the numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 by role playing restaurant and counting out the correct amount of "food" to give to the customer. Great job, mathematicians!







Next week is Special Needs Awareness week and we are wearing yellow to show our support. 💛

Cub Scout Pack 777 in Surf City is helping children impacted by Hurricane Helene by starting a Comfort Drive in hopes to collect blankets, lovies, stuffies, pacifiers, etc. Drop off boxes will be available at Surf City Walmart Marketplace, Belles and Beaus Salon in Surf City, Holly Ridge Veterinary Hospital.

Today’s Mental Health Awareness tip is to take a “mini vacation” when you are feeling stressed, worried or angry. This is how you do it. Close your eyes, take slow, deep breaths, and create a picture in your mind of a place where you feel safe and calm.


During Wit & Wisdom, Mrs. Hitchens' 2nd graders learned that chameleons camouflage themselves into their environment. Check out these awesome chameleons in their classroom!








Mrs. Henry's 1st grade students had fun working in small groups with two-colored counters. They found combinations of totals of 7 and 8 with a Shake and Toss Game. and then recorded their results and wrote a matching addition number sentence. Great work, first graders!
