Families, mark your calendars to join us on Tuesday, December 9th from 5:00–7:00 PM for our Holidays Around the World celebration! Each grade level will showcase a different country, and students will be sharing what they’ve learned through displays and presentations. We will then follow it up with our annual Winter Concert.
We would also love for families to be part of the celebration! Use the QR code below to sign up to bring a traditional dish your family enjoys during the holidays. This is a wonderful way to share your culture and traditions with our school community.
This will be a night full of learning, food, and fun, and we can’t wait to see as many families as possible!

Ms. Sutton has been serving as a school psychologist for eight years, including four years in PCS.
She says her favorite part of the job is “I truly cherish and value the relationships that I have developed with so many different staff and students.”.
Outside of school, Ms. Sutton enjoys spending as much time as she can with her one-year-old son. She is also the captain of a pool team with the American Pool Players Association and she enjoys playing disc golf - a great reminder that balance and self-care matter for everyone!
Thank you, Ms. Sutton, for the compassion and positivity you bring to our students and staff every day! 🌟

Penderlea is excited to join Pender County Schools’ Million Minute Challenge, a districtwide effort to promote reading at home and build a love of literacy across all grade levels. This initiative supports one of Penderlea’s key school goals: improving literacy for all students.
Our school kickoff runs October 27–December 5, and we’re challenging every Hornet to read at home each day and help us reach one million minutes of reading together! Parents reading to their younger students counts, too.
Recommended Daily Reading Time:
K–2: 15–20 minutes | Grades 3–5: 20–30 minutes | Grades 6–8: 30–45 minutes
Families can log minutes using the QR code on the flyer sent home or use this link: https://bit.ly/PLSMMRC
To celebrate our kickoff, we’ll have Storybook Character Day on Friday, October 31st, where students can dress as their favorite book character (must be from a book).
Let’s show that Penderlea is the place to be for growing strong readers and leaders!

This talented group is ready to hit the field with heart, hustle, and Hornet pride! 🐝⚽
From defense to attack, every player brings passion, teamwork, and determination to represent Penderlea at the highest level.
Let’s make this season one to remember — Go Hornets! 🐝🔥

Our Hornets were honored with the Team Sportsmanship Award, voted on by opposing teams — a true testament to their class, respect, and integrity both on and off the field. 🌟
We’re so proud of these athletes, coaches, and fans for representing Penderlea with pride, positivity, and teamwork all season long. 🐝💪
👏 Congratulations also to our individual award winners from the fall season: Kylie Jones (softball) and Lauren Yanez (cheer)!
Your hard work, dedication, and love for the game shine bright — you make the Hive proud! 🖤💛
