Today at Penderlea we celebrated No One Eats Alone Day! Students were encouraged to sit with someone they don’t usually eat with, and it was amazing to see new conversations start over lunch. 🥪💬

Wow — amazing progress! After only 4½ days, our Road to the Championship reading challenge has already accumulated more minutes than the entire 16‑day Super Bowl challenge. 🏀📚👏 That’s incredible momentum — way to go, readers!

Dr. Breedlove will be traveling to Wales to visit schools abroad. Students across Pender County Schools are invited to submit ONE thoughtful question for a chance to have Dr. Breedlove answer in a short vlog while he is in Wales. We will play the vlog during the announcements. Next week, students will be able to submit their questions. Questions can be submitted individually or as a class. https://tinyurl.com/witwidb

🚨 REMINDER: FCA tomorrow!! 🚨 Girls basketball, boys soccer, and cheer will all practice and there will be volleyball and baseball workouts prior to FCA. If your athlete isn't currently involved in any of the above sports, they may stay after school with Mrs. Lanier! All middle schoolers are welcome! We hope to see everyone there!

Did someone say snow day fun? ❄️ Today our 21st Century After School program played “Snow In It To Win It” — and the students had an absolute blast! From teamwork to friendly competition, the room was full of laughter and high fives.

📣 Big news, Penderlea families! Beginning Monday, February 15, Penderlea will participate in the PCS "Road to the Championship" reading challenge. Round 1 — Sweet 16 — runs from February 15 to February 28. Students who read on their own to build skills and confidence. 📚✨

🌱🌿 Our 3rd Graders Got Their Hands Dirty—in the Best Way! 🌿🌱 Earlier this week our amazing 3rd graders had a special visit from the Master Gardeners, and it was full of learning, digging, and growing! Students discovered how to propagate plants by taking cuttings and growing brand-new plants in both water and soil. They learned where to make the cuts, how roots develop, and how a simple clipping can turn into a thriving plant. 🌼✂️ We also explored how to grow potatoes using the “eyes.” The students were fascinated to learn that those little sprouts on a potato can grow into an entirely new plant! 🥔 To put their learning into action, we planted potatoes in our class compost so they can continue growing throughout the year. We can’t wait to watch them sprout and see what we harvest! A huge thank you to our Master Gardeners for inspiring our young growers and helping us cultivate both plants and curiosity. 🌎💚 #PenderleaisthePlacetoBe #OnePender
