SOCCER INFO:
We will hold one final parent meeting for those who have not already attended a parent meeting this year and want to tryout for soccer. This is REQUIRED before your child is allowed to tryout for any sport. This final meeting will be Tues. 10/15 at 3:15pm. Mrs. Umphress will also be available to help with BigTeams/StudentCentral at this time.
There will be a skills session on Wed. 10/16. Pickup is at 4:30pm.
Tryouts will be Thurs and Fri 10/17 and 10/18. Students will only be allowed to stay for tryouts if they have all forms completed in BigTeams/StudentCental, are academically eligible, and have had a parent/guardian attend one of the parent meetings.

🥅 Have ALL BigTeams forms completed or uploaded and have the green dot 🟢
🥅 Have an up to date physical on file on BigTeams
🥅 Have attended an athlete meeting with a parent/guardian
🥅 Be signed up on the middle school board so your grades can be checked by Mrs. Umphress

Good afternoon Penderlea Families,
Just a friendly reminder that report cards for all students are going home today. Please note that due to our new information system (Infinite Campus), report cards may look a little different this time around. Here's a quick breakdown of some key changes:
Grades K-5: Report cards for Kindergarten through 5th grade will be printed on regular paper for this term. This may change in the future, but for now, you'll receive them on regular paper.
Grades 6-8: Parents of students in grades 6-8 may see additional "subjects" on their child's report card that don't have grades listed. We're still working on fine-tuning the system, and these areas couldn't be removed for this term.
Here are the subjects that are NOT graded:
Enrichment Spec
Homeroom
Lunch
Recess
If your child has STEM class, it may not appear on the report card. If STEM IS NOT listed, that means your student earned an A in the class. If they didn't get an A, it will be noted.

The Pender County Master Gardeners came to third grade yesterday and they taught us all about soil. We even got to enjoy a yummy edible dirt snack.

Principal Spotlight: Mr. Stephen Harris 🌟👨🏫
In recognition of National Principal Month, we are thrilled to highlight Mr. Stephen Harris, who is starting his second year at his current school and has 14 years of experience in education 📚✨. Mr. Harris completed his undergraduate studies at UNC-Charlotte and his graduate studies at Wingate University 🎓.
In his free time, Mr. Harris enjoys traveling ✈️, spending time with family and friends 👨👩👧👦, and relaxing at the beach 🏖️. He’s a fan of BBQ 🍖 and pizza 🍕, with pepperoni as his go-to topping. Before entering education, Mr. Harris had the unique job of working as the Easter Bunny and alongside Santa Claus at the mall 🐰🎅.
A talented event organizer, Mr. Harris has put on several concerts with hundreds of attendees 🎶. He enjoys Americana music 🎵 and spends his downtime at the beach with his wife 🌊. One fun fact about him is that he and his brother play on an adult kickball team together ⚽.
Mr. Harris' first day as a principal this year was a memorable moment in his career, and his journey into education was inspired by coaching wrestling at his former high school 🤼♂️. He loves interacting with students of all ages, from middle schoolers to elementary students 👫, and his favorite school tradition is the Hornet of the Week celebrations 🐝.
We are grateful for leaders like Mr. Harris who create vibrant and welcoming school communities! 🌟👏
