Penderlea Junior Beta Club members traveled to Greensboro this week to compete in various categories against other Betas from across North Carolina. They demonstrated amazing work and great character throughout the event! This summer they will travel to the National Beta Convention in Orlando, FL to participate with other clubs from across the United States. Way to go Betas!

At Governor Aycock's birthplace, 2nd grade students had the opportunity to step back in time and experience what life was like in the late 1800s. They explored the historical surroundings and learned about the daily activities of the era. One of the hands-on highlights was making candles by dipping wicks into melted beeswax, offering a unique glimpse into the craftsmanship and traditions of the past. This immersive experience allowed students to connect with history in a tangible and memorable way.
The home girl's basketball game today versus Burgaw Middle will begin at 4:30pm, but will be considered a scrimmage game with a running clock. This means that the boys game may begin earlier than 5:30pm.

It's GAME DAY at the Nest!!! 🐝 🏀 📣 Today is our first home game and the Hornets will take on the Grizzlies! 🐻 Bring all of your Hornet Pride and join us at 4:30pm for the girls tip off! The boys game will follow the conclusion of the girls game. **All Penderlea School students are FREE today since it's our first home basketball game! All other spectators will be $5, cash only** (Students must go home and return at 4:30 to watch the game-- there is no after school supervision for students who are not athletes) #feelthesting #onepender #westsiderising

Starting next week students will be able to shop at the Hornet's Nest using their Hornet Bucks. Students will be able to purchase 2 items at a time.
Store times are as follows:
7th-8th: recess on Tuesday (1/28) and Thursday (1/30).
6th- recess on Tuesday (2/4) and Thursday (2/6)
K-1st Specials with Ms. Thompson the week of January 24th
2nd-5th- Students will create their shopping list the week of January 24th and then Hornet's Nest Cart will be at recess the week of February 3rd.
Future store hours are still being scheduled.
Penderlea students- We need your help! We are in the planning stages of creating a STINGER center. The STINGER center will be a student support center that is a dedicated space designed to assist students in achieving academic, emotional, social, and personal success. Designs can be submitted to Ms. Thompson or Ms. F.
