2nd Grade got a chance to turn reading into real-life learning today! 🥕🥒🍅

After reading The Vegetables We Eat, students participated in a fresh vegetable taste test and explored healthy snack choices firsthand. From crunchy to colorful, students were excited to try new foods, share favorites, and connect literacy with healthy habits! 🌱✨

Learning is always more fun when you can taste it too! 😄

2nd grade is building the foundation for BIG math thinking ✨

Students explored arrays — organizing objects into equal rows and columns as the gateway to multiplication! From skip counting to recognizing patterns, these hands-on activities are helping students see how math works in the real world while building confidence along the way. ➕🔢

The future mathematicians are hard at work! 💡📚

Today in 1st grade, creativity + problem solving rolled into one magical STEM challenge ✨👑

After continuing our learning about Cinderella, students put their engineering skills to work by designing and building their own carriages using play-dough! From brainstorming ideas to testing their creations, these young learners showed incredible imagination, teamwork, and perseverance. 🚠💙

Who knew fairy tales could inspire future engineers? ✨

💙✨ It’s Teacher Appreciation Week! ✨💙

This week, we’re celebrating the heart, dedication, patience, creativity, and love our teachers pour into our students every single day. 🍎📚

Students and families from across our district sent in video messages to help us say one big, heartfelt THANK YOU. To make sure every school community can be celebrated together, we’ve combined the messages into one special video per school, and we’ll be sharing them throughout the week. 🎥🏫

These videos are filled with smiles, gratitude, and reminders of the incredible impact teachers make far beyond the classroom. 💛

To every teacher: thank you for showing up, lifting up, encouraging, inspiring, and believing in our students. You are appreciated more than words can say. 🌟

Have you heard of Jeff Koons? He is an American artist known for his sculptures and paintings that explore pop culture, and nostalgia. His work often features everyday objects, like balloon animals, meticulously crafted in stainless steel with mirror-finish surfaces. Check out 3rd Grade's renditions!

Families, please be aware that afternoon bus routes may be delayed today due to several non-school related traffic accidents in the Highway 17 area. Some cleanup efforts are still ongoing, which may impact transportation this afternoon.

Our transportation team is monitoring the situation and will work to get students home safely and as efficiently as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

🌟 Feature Friday: Employee Spotlight 🌟

This week we’re recognizing Mrs. Carrie Riccardi, Exceptional Children’s Assistant at Topsail Annandale Elementary School.

Mrs. Riccardi has been part of the TAES community for several years and continues to be a steady support for both students and staff. She works closely with students each day, helping meet individual needs and providing extra encouragement where it’s needed most.

She is someone who notices what needs to be done and takes initiative. Whether working with small groups, supporting in different classrooms, or helping during busy parts of the day like carpool, she stays engaged and ready to help. Even with a full schedule, she makes time to support others when needed.

Mrs. Riccardi builds strong relationships with students, staff, and families. She brings a positive and straightforward approach to her work and is always open to learning and trying new ideas.

💛💙 Thank you, Mrs. Riccardi, for the support you provide to students and for the role you play in helping TAES run smoothly each day.
