Students in grade 3-5 read the book Santa's New Sleigh and then got right to work in the maker space to create a sphero powered sleigh. They had criteria and constraints to follow as they built and tested. Next up, coding the sphero to deliver the presents from the sleigh.

Mark your calendars! 📅 The next 7 school days will be SPIRIT days! We can't wait to see everyone's festive gear next week. 'Tis the season to be jolly!

First grade enjoyed their field trip to Airlie Gardens on this beautiful December day.

Our 5th graders are integrating art into their science vocabulary lessons. Teachers, great job keeping the learning interesting and engaging for these budding scientists.

Before we announce the science fair winners, we want to say a big thank you to our SCM students, Mr. Allen and Mrs. Robbins, all who helped judge these awesome projects.
Now the moment, we've all been waiting for, the winners.
1st Place: Oil in the Ocean by Peyton W.

Congratulations to ALL students and classrooms that participated in our school wide science fair. We're proud of all your hard work!

We're ready to show off some more art work from our 2nd & 3rd graders. 2nd grade learned a little about Vincent van Gogh's sunflower paintings then created a mixed media collage using tempera paint, watercolors and crayons .
3rd grade learned how to draw sea turtles and paint them using warm and cool colors. They learned about a watercolor technique using salt on wet watercolors to create the ocean background.

It just makes our day that we have so many positive referrals rolling in. These kids continue to be great role models and we couldn't be more proud.

Congratulations to Mrs. Holt's 3rd grade class. They're the most recent winner of the Golden Trash Can award. Mr. Jeff said that they always keep their room neat and organized and it's a pleasure to clean their room each day.

Today's the day! It's the Science Fair!🧑🔬 Our school is filled with display boards showing all the great projects that each classroom performed. Our halls are busy with students walking through to read about each experiment. Stay tuned, tomorrow the winners will be announced!

Mrs. McDonald's class read the book A Little Spot of Confidence today. Their class did a directed drawing, and wrote about their Spot of Confidence. I am brave. I am loving. I am kind. I can do it! Then they added a Spot of Confidence to their hands as a reminder.

Our 5th graders were invited by UNCW to attend the women's basketball game today. They were joined by other schools around Pender County as well as Brunswick & New Hanover County schools. They had a great time cheering on the team. 🏀

Our first graders enjoyed their monthly visit from the Master Gardeners. They learned about trees and how they eat and grow and also learned about acorns and how squirrels love to hide them . Thank you ladies for a wonderful time.

Check out Mrs. Livesey's class working on their science fair project. They used glitter to learn about germs and how germs spread.

3rd grade science topic: ‘The Science of Slime,’ Mrs. Holmes' class used their knowledge of matter, molecules, and and properties of matter. They changed variables such as ingredients and amounts, and created 3 very different forms of slime— and sometimes the opposite of slime!

Mrs. Taylor's first grade class is starting the week off right with random acts of kindness. They wrote cards for different adults in the building to let them know they're appreciated.

First graders in Ms. Hughes' class are getting ready for the Science fair and learning about germs at the same time! 🦠
