Mrs. Curry's 1st grade class celebrated Poem In Your Pocket Day today. Students shared their poems with their families in the classroom and with anyone else they came across during the school day. Great work poets! ❤️

Mrs. Rice's ELA classes work hard each week with their dictation paragraphs. During this time each day, they work on spelling, listening skills and handwriting. The students and Mrs. Rice work together to correct their work while they talk about spelling patterns. Great writing 4th grade!




A BIG congratulations to our Battle of the Books team. They traveled to Morehead City today to compete in the Regional BOB Competition against 7 neighboring counties and came in 5th place. Way to go BOB team, your school is proud of you! 📚

Some great Earth Day work in our younger grades! Kindergarten boys cleaning up the playground, 1st graders planting bean seeds and 2nd graders learning about the butterfly life cycle. 💚🌎💙




Mrs.Wilkie and Mrs. Wyatt’s classes enjoyed the Special Olympics today along with the help of Mrs.Jones, Mrs.Batts , Mrs.Wood and Mrs.R. ✨






Mrs. McDonald's Kindergarten class read the Geode book Scraping the Sky. They learned the first skyscraper was in Chicago and it was 10 stories tall. Each student picked a block and were put in teams of ten. The challenge was to use teamwork to build the tallest sky scraper.




We're happy to share with you that Sophia H. from Mrs. Edwards' 1st grade class is our Sea Turtle of the Week for the week of April 17-21 . Sophia, your school is proud of you.


First grade is growing lettuce in the courtyard. In a few weeks they will harvest the lettuce and use it to feed the sea turtles at The Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center.



SCE students are Remembering Everyone Deployed on this third day of Military Spirit Week by wearing their R.E.D. ❤️






Mrs. Rice's 4th grade works together just like all the branches of the military which is why they wore purple today to show their support during our Military Spirit Week.


5th Grade Parents ➡️ Don't forget! THIS Wednesday there will be a Band Interest and Instrument rental night at Surf City Middle School. The meeting starts at 6pm and will run until 7pm. Information on how to rent an instrument and how band class works in middle school will be shown. All students and parents are welcome!
