Don't eat all the peeps before participating in the Reading With my Peeps Photo Contest! Due April 10.

Mrs. McDonald's class read a book this week from our Geodes series called Frank's Ice Pops. When Frank was 11 years old, he accidentally invented the "ice pop" which later became known as the Popsicle. They made "popsicles" in class today.

Mrs. Holmes’ 3rd grade class's recent Social Studies topic has been learning about producers and consumers, public vs. private businesses, and other economic topics. So, Mrs. Holmes’s sister, who owns her own Indoor Plant Landscaping business, streamed in for some real-life questions and answers!

We have readers in Kindergarten! 📚 These students are reading our new decodable books from the library. The students are also practicing their encoding with chips for each sound they hear, then writing the word. Keep up the great work Kindergarten! 👍

Mrs. Xavier's science classes enjoyed learning about forces and motion by exploring with magnets this week. Great work, scientists!

Our 4th graders, along with all 4th graders from PCS, enjoyed a field trip on Wednesday to Heide Trask High School for a special performance by the NC Symphony. 🎵

We're happy to share with you that Jackson M. from Mrs. Mitchell's Kindergarten class is our Sea Turtle of the Week for the week of March 27-31. Jackson, your school is proud of you!

Mrs. Edens’ 2nd grade class has been reading fairy tales and worked on project to go with today. They could not be defeated by the Big Bad Wolf! They built some amazing houses to make sure their little piggies wouldn’t get eaten!

The band director at SCMS, Mr. Judy, came to visit our SCE 5th graders yesterday to talk about being in band class next year. ALL students are able to be in band class if they would like. There will be an in person interest meeting on April 19th and a Zoom meeting on May 10th if you are available to attend in person. At this meeting parents and students will be able to decide which instrument they will play and start renting their instrument. Please email Mr. Judy if you have any questions at trevor_judy@pender.k12.nc.us

In Mrs. Livesey's 1st grade class, a regular lesson turned into so much more! They have been discussing character traits while reading three versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Today, they decided on doing a readers theater. What fun!

A BIG congratulations to our Battle of the Books team. Yesterday they competed against 8 other elementary schools across the county and came in 1st place. They are headed to the regional competition next month. 📚🥇

What better way to practice math than with some art & writing. Great work Mrs. Holt's class!
