
Monday Fun! 🌟 2nd grade enjoyed a field trip to Airlie Gardens and 3rd graders participated in Teach the Teacher Day. Mrs. Gray's students taught her learned how to throw a curve ball and tie dye while Mrs. Holt's students taught her about lizards, gymnastics & anime.






Mrs. Taylor's first grade class is enjoying a fun filled science day on this rainy Friday. Great work, scientists.





Kindergarten has been studying the work of authors Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen with their shape trilogy series. Rosalie in Mrs. Harbin's class decided to make some great representations of the characters by using the straws in library class.


Thanks to all your support during our Book Fairs, one of the things the library was able to do was to buy 2 chess tables for students to use. Adding chess to our library will encourage problem solving skills as well as build respect and cooperation as students begin to play each other.

Shout out to our PTA, who allotted money for classrooms to buy some instructional materials. Mrs. Edwards' class chose some sensory phonics games and the kids LOVED them. Thank you!

Mrs. Curry's 1st grade class enjoyed some rock treats today! They made metamorphic rocks by applying pressure and heat to two starburst. Then they made sedimentary rock by layering graham crackers and icing. Last they made igneous rock by heating chocolate chips until they melted and let them cool before eating them. 🪨





Mrs. Livesey's 1st grade class has been researching animals, habitats and National Parks. They are brought it ALL together in the form of animal dioramas and collaborative National Park displays. To top it off, these amazing researchers and writers had the opportunity to share their hard work with the whole school.

Because of a successful Boosterthon, the PTA treated us to a to friendly match of Tug of War on this sunny Friday afternoon. Mr. Allen, Mrs. Robins & grade level teaches went against the top earners from each homeroom. 💪

Today, 2nd graders had the privilege to hear from a local author, David Sokolofsky, who wrote the book, The Little Surfer Boy. Dave is also a good friend of Mr. Allen, they've been friends since they were 10 years old. Thanks Dave for coming to Surf City Elementary, reading to us and adding your wonderful book to our library collection. It's official, your picture has been added to our author wall!
