
Actively participating in Wit & Wisdom across the school! Mrs. Workman's Kindergarten class finished writing and illustrating their first book because they have been learning about the elements of a good story (characters/setting, problem, responses to problem, and resolution). While over in 3rd grade, Mrs. Hart's class performing Tableaus from events in their book: Moonshot by Brian Flora. Keep up the great work!





Dr. Martin's 3rd grade class went back 100 years to 1924 to celebrate the 100th day of school!
First, they learned about the inventions from 1924. For example, each student had a bag of Wheaties while they watched a special performance from George Gershwin. (Did you know that Wheaties were created 100 years ago in 1924?)
Next, the Johnson-Reed Act of 1924 was briefly introduced and heard a snippet from Morris Schneider, an immigrant from the 1920s who immigrated from Poland.
Then, they kicked off Module 3 in Wit & Wisdom, which coincidentally has the theme of 'How do stories help us understand immigrants' experiences?' We had a book tasting to get a "taste" of what we are about to learn. We had help from our two volunteers from the middle school to help us taste each book.
Lastly, students had to go to work! Groups had to learn how to sew, bake, and stitch. They also got to play games that were popular in the 1920s along with some STEM activities.





Students in Mrs. Rice's 4th grade class are learning about extreme settings and how they change characters. To prepare for reading the novel, Hatchet, students researched and created brochures about hiking in the mountains. They included interesting facts, dangers and reminders.

Mrs. McDonald's Kindergarten kids are finding partners to 5 using Eureka math picture cards. Success!

Students in Mrs. Horne's 5th grade class paired up to practice their fluency with a partner. Students assisted and critiqued their partner with unfamiliar words, comprehension, expression and misconceptions about their current novel, "Phantom Tollbooth."

Mrs. Collin's 5th grade class watched the livestream of America's favorite groundhog, Phil. His prediction was clear – a forecast of an early spring! 🌼

Mrs. Holt's 3rd grade class used what they know to sequence the events that happened in their book "One Giant Leap". 🌑 👨🏼🚀




Reem and Lila from Mrs. Rice’s 4th grade class wrote a book together. The students did a fantastic job reading the book and answering questions from Mrs. McDonald’s students. Great job girls!



Ms. Milliner's 2nd grade class got to build ducks using tangrams today. They are learning how to compose and decompose shapes. Keep up the great work!




Check out Mrs. Gray's 3rd graders having some fun on this rainy Wednesday morning. They're practicing the Y and suffix spelling rule during Fundations.



Third Grade took a field trip to Sunset Beach to visit Ingram Planetarium yesterday & today. Students watched a presentation on the Sun, Earth, and Moon with amazing visuals to demonstrate the magnificent solar system. This aligned to their current module in Wit & Wisdom. In the presentation, many students made connections to information they learned during module 2.



Congratulations to Mrs. Mercer's second grade class. They are our recent winners of the Golden Trash Can. Mr. Jeff has noticed that they are picking up their materials and keeping their room clean each and every day. Your school is proud of you! 🌟
