It might be cold outside but the fishing is hot in the STEAM Lab! Kindergarten and First graders went fishing as they learned about magnets 🧲 and different ways to sort. Second Graders had to engineer their own fishing rods before going fishing 🎣!

Good Afternoon -
Please be reminded of Pender County Policy regarding student water bottle. In the district handbook, it is posted as follows:
Water Bottles
Students are permitted to bring water bottles to school, but they should only contain water. Other beverages, like juice or milk, can be consumed during lunch.
Also we are asking you no longer allow your child to bring any beverage other than water into the building from the car line anymore. We have students bringing full Starbucks drinks, sodas, fast food etc. Please finish your treats before exiting the car daily. This practice is fair to all students. See administration if you have questions. Thank you!

Students in Mrs. Gray and Ms. Mizell's 4th grade classes had a little tea party today while they studied the events of the Boston Tea Party and how different people's experiences affected their perspectives on the American Revolution. ☕ Students did a cast read of the Boston Tea Party, each taking on a role of either a Patriot or Loyalist. 📜 They also worked on writing letters to the Sons of Liberty stating their perspectives on the events leading up to the war. Check out their amazing essays from last week. 📝

Good evening. In preparation for possible inclement weather, Pender County will offer a bagged lunch and a bagged breakfast for students to take home tomorrow, in case schools are virtual or closed Monday, 1/23.
While taking attendance, students will have the chance to tell the teacher if they would like to take home the 2 bagged meals. Feel free to discuss with your child tonight and decide if you would like them to grab some bagged meals. This is completely optional and no charge to the parents at all.
The district will meet on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning to make a decision about school Monday. We will post as soon as we know the verdict.

Have you ever seen a small act make a big difference? After reading "The Hat" by Jan Brett, each of Ms. Meadows Pre-K students got to choose a hat to take home — all donated by a kind neighbor in our community. 🎩✨ Watching their faces light up reminded us how powerful community support can be for kids. 📚❤️
