This upcoming week is Mental Health Awareness Week and we are wearing green to show our support. 💚

Mrs. Collins’ homeroom got to use the Q-Ball, a throw-able, wireless microphone to increase classroom participation, to share thoughts during a class discussion. The kids loved passing the ball and hearing the students through the speaker.

Ms. Wilson's 5th grade scientists designed and tested hoop gliders today, trying to defy gravity while learning about force and motion!

Thankful for our connection with Surf City Middle and their National Junior Honor Society students. They come over and help students in the morning with literacy skills & reading books. You are a humongous help, we appreciate you!

We're happy to share with you that we have two (!!) Sea Turtles of the Week this week. First, congratulations to Rowan from Ms. Gruber's 3rd grade class and second congratulations to Mila in Ms. Silman's Kindergarten class. Rowan & Mila, your school is proud of you. 💙🐢💚

Ms. Poster integrating some math into her music note value lesson. 🔢♫

PreK had a special parent visitor today! NCIS Special Agent Sal came to talk to the classes today about his job responsibilities and how he helps to keep our community safe. He gave our preschoolers an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about how they can help to stay safe and make safe choices, such as not answering the door at home for strangers, etc.

Our wonderful GOTR coach, Coach Devon, is looking for our help. She is also the THS Cross Country coach and they need your old shoes. 🤝 🏃🏻♀️ 👟 They're are holding a fundraiser to collect used athletic shoes including trainers (all sports), cleats (rubber only) and hiking/leisure (Vans, Converse). The XC team is compensated for all shoes that can be rehomed to those in need and those shoes too-well-loved will be recycled into things like rubber tracks and playground surfaces. Money earned will go directly to the THS cross country team to be used for invitational meet fees and travel. There are donation boxes set up at all the area elementary and middle schools.

Ms. Burnett's, Ms. Metivier's, Ms. O'Brien's and Ms. Gruber's 3rd grade classes went to Scooters in Wilmington today. Students did some STEM activities with force and motion, they reverse engineered a skate, made a skate to test friction and had fun roller skating!

Good Afternoon Sea Turtle Families,
The students who have been switched from bus 284 to bus 323 in the afternoons will be riding bus 323 in the afternoons from now on. A bus pass has been delivered to the driver and a copy has been given to the students. Their morning transportation will be the same.

Today Ms. Pierce's 1st grade class read the Geodes book, “An Illustrator at Work” which tells about Neil Brigham's illustrations using printmaking. They were so inspired that they decided to stamped their own illustrations!
