Time to say "Hello" to Ms. Barras! Ms. Barras is in her 7th year of teaching at RPE, but has over 15 years of teaching experience. When not at school, she loves traveling, reading, riding bikes, and playing tennis. That joke she shared? She once told it in front of a large room of people on a military base! Thank you for being part of our Ram Fam, Ms. Barras!

The Rocky Point Orchestra is up and running for this school year! There are currently 46 students enrolled, but we do have a few spots left if anyone wants to join! The club is open to students in 2nd-5th grades. #OnePender

Now we want to shine the Staff Spotlight on Ms. Romero! Ms. Romero is in her 5th year of teaching, all of which have been with 3rd grade at RPE (she really loves 3rd grade!). Outside of school, she enjoys playing piano, singing, and being with her family. We hope you have a great year, Ms. Romero!

2nd Grade is learning about how change impacts people and nature in their current Wit & Wisdom module. Great writing, friends! #OnePender

Say Hello to Ms. Roman! Ms. Roman serves as a Kindergarten Instructional Assistant, but has previously served in preschool and as PACES director. And did you know that she grew up in Florida? We're so glad she made her way to North Carolina and to Rocky Point!

There's lots of fun in music today! 1st grade got to sing a Hispanic song with puppets, and 3rd grade is working on Chromebooks to practice their note reading!

Pender County School Families,
Today a few school districts in North Carolina were affected by false reports of violence on their campuses. We have been in contact with local law enforcement and there is no credible threat to any of our schools. It appears to be part of a hoax known as “swatting.”
While Pender County Schools has not experienced this issue directly, we know the message is circulating on social media and that many of our families may be understandably concerned about school safety. Please know that our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We take any and all reports of potential threats seriously, and we are making every effort to maintain an environment where students and staff feel safe.
We would like to continue to remind our students and school community, if you see something, “Say Something” using our reporting system located on the main webpage of every school as well as the Pender County Schools mobile app. Also always report, don’t repost. Sharing false information, making threats, and engaging in online harassment are serious offenses that can have severe consequences.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your individual school. Thank you for your attention to this important update.

Meet our new School Counselor, Ms. Sherwood! Ms. Sherwood was a classroom teacher for 10 years before she transitioned to school counseling. She likes to play golf, refinish furniture, and watch and play sports. Ms. Sherwood's only been at Rocky Point for a few weeks, but we love her already! Thanks for joining our family, Ms. Sherwood!

Mrs. Cramer says, "Stay dry out there!"
