📚 Walk to Read Camp is Reading Camp—reimagined! ✨
Under the leadership of Dr. Oates, Director of Elementary Education, and Meagan Winstead, Early Literacy Specialist, reading camp was transformed into a dynamic and engaging experience where students imagine, explore, and discover their path to excellence. 🧭 With a theme centered around exploration and discovery, students are immersed in literacy through books, art, and project-based learning that bring reading to life. 🎨📖
🔍 Our mission: Imagine, explore, and discover while mapping the path to excellence.
🌟 Our vision: Through Walk to Read and hands-on adventures, we explore new paths and discover exciting places—leading students to success. 🚀
Students across the district arrive each day energized and eager to learn—and families are noticing! 💬 One parent shared:
“I’ve seen such a huge difference in his confidence in reading and writing. He comes home excited to share about his day—which hasn’t always been the case. I was nervous about taking away from his summer, but this has been the best decision. I’m so thankful he got this opportunity.” 💖
Walk to Read is more than just a camp—it’s a celebration of learning 🎉 and a spark for lifelong readers. 🔥

Did you know that in our Linda Eakins Outdoor Learning Classroom, we have a beautiful butterfly garden? While students help maintain the garden during the school year, we are looking for volunteers to help out this summer with weeding, watering, and donations. Specifially, we could use some more pine straw and butterfly bushes, as well as any other plants that help pollinators. If you're interested, please contact Ms. Allder at alyssa_allder@pender.k12.nc.us. Thank you for your help!

Did you miss buying a yearbook?
We still have a few for sale in the front office for $25, or you can choose to have it shipped directly to your home if you purchase online (shipping charges do apply). The online order form will open on June 1st and will remain live all summer.

We proudly honored our amazing school volunteers with a special plaque presentation this week. Their time, energy, dedication, and heart make a world of difference for our Rams. Thank you to Mrs. Ashley Teeter, Ms. Pat Davenport, Ms. Cecilia Carbajal, Mr. John Jenness, Ms. Megan Applegate, and Ms. Humberta Cruz for helping us to grow and shine!

As the school year comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank the amazing staff members who will not be returning to our school next year. Your hard work, dedication, and the care you’ve shown our students have made a lasting impact.
Thank you, Dr. Brown, Mr. Amigo, Ms. Batten, Ms. Barnhill, and Mr. Montooth!

A HUGE "thank you" to Hungry for Music, who donated two guitars and two trumpets to RPE today! These instruments are the first steps to building a mariachi band at our school! #OnePender
