Mrs. Umphress' class had two special guest readers today! 📚 Our very own, Olivia & Sam, joined to read a bilingual story, Moon Rope, in English & Spanish. This story is from Peru, South America and portrays indigenous South American folktales. 🌕 🦊 Kindergarten is currently learning about our fascinating world! 🌎

Third graders are introduced to poetry as a way to explore language through imagination and the five senses—sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch. By focusing on how poets create vivid imagery, students learn to “see” and “feel” what a poem describes. In this lesson, students read “The Great Figure” by William Carlos Williams. They closely examine the words and phrases in the poem to identify sensory details, such as what they might hear in the scene or what they can picture in their minds. They have LOVED learning to use their senses while reading poetry and creating illustrations depicting the poem using their 5 senses. 🚒🚒

Our Kindergarteners celebrated Earth Day yesterday, by learning about dirt, planting seeds and learning how seeds grow. They had a blast!!! 🌼🪏🌱

UNCW’s Junior Seahawk Academy is back for Summer 2026 with hands-on experiences in STEM, healthcare, and teacher education. Students will explore real-world learning through live demonstrations and interactive activities.

The 6th grade had an awesome field trip recently to High Tides and Good Vibes in Surf City. Students enjoyed bowling, arcade games, laser tag, and a simulation ride before picnicking at the park on the waterway.
