Blood Drive

A big congratulations to the students from Cape Fear Middle, Surf City Middle, Heide Trask High, Pender High, and Topsail High who participated in Honor Band at UNC Pembroke this past weekend.

Students from across the state performed on Saturday at the Givens Performing Arts Center after spending just one day working with guest clinicians to prepare the concert. That is no small task, and our students did an outstanding job. We are proud to see them recognized for their talent and commitment.

Congratulations to Kamya Stringfield and Terrence O'Neal on their selection to the UNC-Pembroke Honor Band! This Saturday, these two spent the day learning more about the UNCP campus in between their rehearsals with the honors band. The concert performance was at 5pm in the Givens Performing Arts Center. We are super proud of our Patriot musicians!

Good afternoon Pender High School families, Due to the threat of severe weather expected on Monday, March 16, 2026, Pender County Schools will operate on a remote learning and work day for all staff and students. Forecasts continue to show the potential for severe storms, including damaging wind gusts and possible tornadoes, during the day on Monday. Out of an abundance of caution and to help ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families, we have made the decision to move to remote learning and remote work for the day. All afterschool activities are canceled. We encourage all families to continue monitoring local weather conditions and to stay safe. Thank you for your understanding. We understand that not all students have their Chromebooks at home and that is ok. You can use different devices at home to access their ClassLink, or students will have extra days to make up any work when they get back to school and get their Chromebooks. Please access student email/Google Classroom and be on the lookout for direct communication from your child's teacher.

50th Pender High School Teacher of the Year: Mr. Wes High

We are proud to announce Mr. Wes High as our Teacher of the Year, a recognition selected by his peers in honor of his outstanding dedication to our school community.

As a Multilingual Learner teacher, Mr. High supports our entire school through impactful literacy strategies that engage every learner and strengthen classroom instruction across grade levels. In addition, he leads our thriving Juntos programming, building meaningful connections with families and helping students succeed both academically and personally.

A true team player and master educator, Mr. High consistently exemplifies our school’s vision and mission in action. As a previous Order of the Patriot recipient, his commitment to service, collaboration, and excellence continues to inspire both colleagues and students.

We are grateful for Mr. High’s leadership and proud to have him represent our school as Teacher of the Year. Our faculty was proud to celebrate alongside his wife and children in a surprise ceremony prior to the start of the school day. We invite our community to celebrate him in your own meaningful way. Pender High is a great place to work and learn, with direct causation tied back to Mr. High's impact on student outcomes.
