The PHS Medical Assisting class had an incredible opportunity this week as they visited Cape Fear Community College to explore careers in the medical field.
Students toured the wide range of healthcare programs offered at CFCC and gained valuable insight into the many pathways available to them after graduation. One of the highlights of the visit was hands-on experience in stenography, where students were able to see firsthand how specialized skills play a vital role in the medical profession.

🌟 Student Spotlight 🌟
Bethanny is an 11th grader at Pender High School, nominated by her mother for her academic success, dedication, and involvement in school activities.
Bethanny has been a straight A student since 7th grade. She has been a member of Beta Club for five years and was inducted into National Honor Society in 10th grade. She has also earned several recognitions, including awards at the National and State Beta Conventions and The Order of the Patriot, which is one of the highest honors given at Pender High School.
Outside of the classroom, Bethanny has been part of the winter and spring track teams since her freshman year and has competed at regionals twice. She also started her own small business in 2023 at age 14 called My Desires, making custom press-on nails and installing fairy hair.
Bethanny stays involved at school through volunteering whenever she has time. She helps with events, supports athletic meets, and takes time to assist with organizing and cleanup around campus. She was also elected Class Vice President in 2024.
Bethanny’s favorite food is chicken alfredo 🍝, and her favorite color is Carolina blue 💙. Her hobbies include tennis 🎾, shot put and discus 🥇, reading 📚, watching movies 🎬 (Star Wars, Marvel, Twilight, and Harry Potter), volunteering 🤝, baking 🍪, and doing nails 💅. She has three dogs—Thor, Jax, and Charlie Brown 🐾.
One fun fact: when Bethanny was about seven years old, she set up a table at her dad’s birthday party, sold her drawings for $1 each, and made $11 total (including one dollar she added herself) 🎨💵.
💙 Thank you, Bethanny, for the hard work and positive impact you bring to Pender High School.

Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to let you know that we will have another virtual learning day tomorrow, 2/5/2026.
We completely understand that returning to virtual learning is not ideal. We truly want our students and staff back in the building, learning together in person, and we know how challenging schedule changes can be for families. Please know this decision was not made lightly.
Pender County is a very large county, and while road conditions may appear clear and safe in some neighborhoods, there are still many areas—particularly on the west and north sides of the county—where roads remain hazardous. These conditions make it unsafe for our buses to travel and for students to be transported safely.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these conditions. Teachers will share expectations for virtual learning, and we encourage students to engage as they are able.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are hopeful to return to in-person learning as soon as it is safe to do so and look forward to welcoming everyone back into the building.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Don't forget your yearbooks or Sr ads! Please note - we do NOT order extra books, so reserve yours today! Yearbooks and Senior ads are on sale NOW through yearbookordercenter.com

Congratulations to our Seniors! We are super proud of you and your acceptances🎉 Seniors - be sure to submit your acceptances in the Next Step Advising classroom so we can celebrate everyone!
