The Book Fair is open through this Friday. Yesterday we received restocks of a few items that sold out last week. Thank you so much for supporting the Book Fair! (Students have been telling Mrs. Casha they are doing chores to earn more money!)

Taco Tuesday! What's your favorite taco? This morning, as part of Hispanic Heritage month, student announcers shared facts about a food from Mexico which has become more popular than pizza ... Tacos!! Did you know taco means "light lunch" and people have been eating tacos for thousands of years? In Mexico, soft shells made from corn are most popular while in America, hard shell tacos are the preferred shell. You can fill tacos with anything you want so what is your favorite taco?
What's for dinner tonight? Post your Taco Tuesday night pictures on our MCE FB page.

Staff tidbit: Yesterday was Indigenous Peoples Day and our AP, Mrs. Locklear is part of the Lumbee Tribe. The Lumber tribe is the largest tribe in NC, largest tribe east of the Mississippi and the 9th largest in the nation. Thank you for sharing with us Mrs. Locklear!

During the month of October, all Pender County Schools will be observing special awareness weeks. Students are encouraged to wear awareness week colors throughout the month.

Today was our first Super SOARing Eagle picnic. Students who met behavior expectations were allowed to have a picnic lunch outside & treated with an ice cream from Port City Pop's. (Thank you to Kimani & Liam Robinson's family for donating the ice cream treat!) Way to SOAR Eagles!!

Book Fair flyers will be coming home this week. Families can use the QR code on the back to find our school Book Fair (enter zip code 28425). We love the Book Fair because it puts great books into student hands AND it helps the library purchase new books!

Look what was in our bus parking lot this morning ... the Fall Book Fair truck!! Book Fair starts next week!! (Students should be asking to do chores to earn money to spend at the fair 😀).
