A proud Pender County native and graduate of Pender High School, Ms. King-Jacobs brings 16 years of experience, deep community roots, and a heart for children to her new role. 🎓🍎 She began her career teaching 5th grade at Cape Fear Elementary and later served as Assistant Principal right here at Malpass Corner.
Now, as she steps into the role of principal, Ms. King-Jacobs is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment for every student. 🤝📘 She believes in high expectations, strong relationships, and the power of a “can-do” mindset to help students and staff reach their full potential.
Outside the school walls, she loves spending time with her husband Jesse and their three children — all proud products of Pender County Schools. 👨👩👧👦🌟
We’re excited for this new chapter under Ms. King-Jacobs’ leadership and can’t wait to see the great things ahead for our students, staff, and families! 💫

PCS is proud to partner once again with the NC Department of Public Instruction, No Kid Hungry NC, and the Carolina Hunger Initiative to offer free summer meals for children 18 and younger. Beginning Wednesday, June 18 through July 30, families can pick up 5 days’ worth of breakfast 🥣 and lunch 🥪 at four school sites—South Topsail, C.F. Pope, Malpass Corner, and Rocky Point Elementary—every Wednesday from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. 📍⏰

We’ve been made aware of a scam involving a company called Elite Sports Promo (https://www.elitesportspromos.com/) that is falsely claiming to represent Pender High School and Pender County Schools while seeking sponsorship funds. Reports from other districts indicate that multiple businesses have already been misled.
To be clear, no Pender County School partners with outside marketing companies to secure sponsorships. The only legitimate organizations authorized to collect funds for our athletic programs are the Booster Clubs.
If your business is contacted by anyone claiming to represent our school for advertising or sponsorship purposes, we encourage you to verify their identity and contact your school directly.

More pictures from Ms. Ellington's farewell. Though the Grand Eagle may be a Patriot next year, her Eagle Heart will be with us always.
Today, we bid a "see you later" to our Head Eagle! Ms. Ellington's wings are spread and her new nest will be at Pender High School starting with the 25-26 school year. We shared stories, shed tears and celebrated over ice cream sundaes while walking down memory lane. Ms. Ellington served the Eagle's Nest for 11 years and her service will not be easily forgotten! We are excited for the new adventure in her SOARing career and super glad we get to keep her youngest daughter in the Eagle's Nest for one more year! Ms. Ellington, though we must allow you this chance to grow, you will always be an Eagle and will always be part of the Eagle's Nest Family.
Yesterday we were able to celebrate these 2 Eagles who were voted on by Eagle Staff as our 24-25 Staff of the Year. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to our Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Paige Hulon, and our Classified Staff of the Year, Mrs. Crystal Havens! Mrs. Hulon teaches 4th grade math and is a BETA Staff Sponsor. Mrs. Haven supports the entire nest, Eagles and Eagle Staff and even helps us dress around special days of the year. The Eagle's Nest is proud of these ladies and appreciate all they do to make our nest the best!
Weekly Attendance
Earlier this week, 1st grade buddies from Ms. Steiner's class brought notes and goodies to Mrs. Boerigter's class to encourage our 3rd graders before their first EOG! #LearningIsBetterWhenWeSupportEachOther.
Working up to the EOGs. 5th grade entered into "EOG Boot Camp" and were put through the paces to be in shape for the EOGs. Last Thursday, Math Boot Camp met in the library for a few classes. Check out this team work! (We are happy to report all celebrities were saved!!) #LearningIsBetterInBootCamp
