🌟 Staff Member of the Month 🌟 We are so excited to recognize Ms. Spivey as our October Staff Member of the Month! She is always willing to lend a helping hand and works hard to keep our school running smoothly each day. As one of the first faces families see, she creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere and handles everything that comes her way with patience, professionalism, and grace. We truly appreciate all that she does for our students, staff, and families. Our school simply wouldn’t be the same without her, and we are so lucky to have her! 💙

Hello October! Which means it's a new month to earn money for our school with your Boxtops.

October is a Month of Awareness at Pender County Schools! Throughout October, we’re coming together to support, encourage, and include one another. Each week highlights an important area of awareness: 💚 Mental Health Awareness: October 5–9 💛 Special Needs Awareness: October 12–18 🧡 Bullying Prevention: October 19–23 ❤️ Red Ribbon Week: October 26–30 Together, we can create a school community where every student feels supported, encouraged, valued, and included.

Welcome to Ms. Grochan’s Clever Cat Café! For every 10 books they read, students earn a visit to the café where they can choose their own flavored water treat! Read. Sip. Repeat! 🐾

Our students had fun working together in groups of 5, using 6 cups per group and only strings and a rubber band!
This hands-on STEM activity encouraged teamwork, communication, problem-solving, creativity, and leadership while learning about balance and stability.

Third graders got to explore and hear about scuba diving equipment after learning about Jacques Cousteau in Wit & Wisdom 🌊🤿

It was a busy day in Mrs. Johnson’s class! Today we discussed our vocabulary word “kind” and ways to be a good friend. We made friendship bracelets, identified letters and their characteristics, and practiced writing them. We ended the day with math, measuring our towers and comparing them as bigger, smaller, biggest, smallest, and equal!

National Coffee Day is Today, and we’re bringing the coffee to CFE! ☕ The CFE PTO is teaming up with Brown Dog Coffee in the drop-off line today with your favorite hot or cold drinks to give your morning a little extra fuel! ✨ Grab your coffee. Support CFE. Keep your morning moving! We’ll see you in the drop-off line. 🐻

Finished Dolly Day with Stop Drop and Read!!! Kindergarten made sure their classes participated by doing a whole class read aloud with a Dolly Parton book! Way to connect with the activity! We hope our Cubs enjoyed this memorable day!

Meet Sadie Hollifield! Sadie is a 2nd grader at Cape Fear Elementary, and this is her sweet story of how Dolly Parton became such a special part of her life! When Sadie was just 2 or 3 years old, she began receiving books through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Her mother would always tell her that the books were from “Miss Dolly.” At the time, her Aunt had chickens named after country music stars—and one of them was named Dolly! So, naturally, Sadie thought the chicken named Dolly was sending her books! Once her mother showed her pictures of the real Dolly Parton, she started listening to Dolly’s music together, and Sadie absolutely fell in love with her. Today, Sadie is still a HUGE Dolly fan! She sleeps every night with her Coat of Many Colors stuffed guitar (which she didn’t bring to school today because, according to Sadie, “it’s too special!”). But she brought books to read to her class instead. She also has multiple framed pictures of Dolly in her room. What started with a little girl believing a chicken named Dolly was sending her books has grown into a beautiful love of books, music, imagination, and Dolly Parton. We are so happy Sadie shared her story with us for Dolly Day at CFE! 💕

Dolly Day at Cape Fear Elementary!

Today we celebrated Dolly Day and Dolly Parton’s belief that every child can learn to read and every child should have books of their own. Through the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, she has helped make free books available to young children and encouraged families to build a lifelong love of reading.

Our day began with a livestream from the library during morning announcements, where Mrs. Smith shared the importance of Dolly Day and Mrs. Taylor read The Coat of Many Colors to our entire school.

Then the “Carts were out!” Dolly Carton made her way around the school, bringing our Cubs coloring sheets, bookmarks, stickers, and reading bracelets! Our Sunshine Cart also made its rounds, giving our staff a chance to “pour themselves a cup of ambition!”

There were lots of pictures, smiles, and happy faces throughout the day!

And we’re not finished yet! We’ll wrap up this memorable day with a school wide Stop, Drop & Read at 2:00!

Today we celebrate books, imagination, literacy, and the belief that every child can DREAM BIG!
