Today Mrs. Johnson’s class had various pumpkin investigations! We are truly pumpkin certified!! 🎃

Let’s support HTHS while having a frightfully good time!

The 21st CCLC program enjoyed a successful initial visit with Pender County 4-H, where students took part in an “all-about-me” activity that strengthened their presentation, speaking, and peer-questioning skills. Pender County 4-H serves elementary students through hands-on learning across subjects such as STEM, health, and agriculture. 🍀

✏️Third graders working together to give each other peer feedback on their writing. Students answered the prompt: Why & how do scientists explore the sea? 🤿 🐠 🌊

This week Mrs Robertson's class began their pumpkin study. This rainy and windy day has brought about a lot of indoor opportunities for us that included cutting open a pumpkin! We discussed the characteristics of a pumpkin, labeling the parts of a pumpkin, the life cycle, where they grow, what they need to grow, new vocabulary, practiced measuring the circumference of a pumpkin, using watercolors to paint the pumpkin and pumpkin parts. We also used play doh to create pumpkin numbers, built scarecrows in block center, made pumpkin pies (pretend) at our in house farmers market, and much much more!

Mrs. Johnson’s class has begun their pumpkin study and learning so much already! We created a K,W,L chart, a pumpkins “ have, are, can” chart, talked about the parts of a pumpkin and more today. We will be measuring pumpkins, conduct a what’s inside a pumpkin, sink or float & how heavy are pumpkins investigations to name a few. We will use pumpkins to build on many developmental skills like literacy, math, science , fine and gross motor skills.

Say Cheese! Don't forget your smiles. Tomorrow is picture day.

Good evening Pender County Schools families. As the storm system continues to weaken, we wanted to let you know that all schools will begin at their normal times on Monday. We look forward to having a great week!
Buenas tardes, familias de las Escuelas del Condado de Pender. A medida que el sistema de tormentas continúa debilitándose, queremos informarles que todas las escuelas comenzarán en su horario normal el lunes. ¡Esperamos tener una excelente semana!

Wear yellow this week to support special needs awareness!

A perfect fall day for a trip to the farm.

As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Week, let's remember that kindness, empathy, understanding should happen every day not just this week.

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and we’re showing our support by wearing green! 💚
A small color with a big message.

Congratulations to our October Crystal Apple recipient. Mrs. Kayla Hollifield transitioned to Kindergarten this year and has done a phenomenal job. She is a natural fit on our Kinder team and a truly nurturing soul to our students. We are so grateful for her dedication and heart!

In this activity, students are challenged to build a glider that will glide as far as possible. Working in groups, students will cut and tape various hoops to their straw. They will experiment with hoops of different sizes, positioning, and throwing styles.

Fall Festival is coming! 🎃🍭
