First day with ALL students in Ms. Johnson’s class and they enjoyed getting acquainted with their peers, class environment and building the classroom community.
During Wit and Wisdom, Mrs. McCall's first grade students learned how to generate and answer questions by utilizing key details from the text Tomás and the Library Lady.
Mrs. Robertson and Ms. Henry got to meet 5 more students in preschool today. They are learning all the routines, procedures, and working on building classroom community. Children were introduced to classroom jobs that help build classroom, teach responsibility and working together.
Mrs. Garvey’s class had a book “tasting” this morning. The students browsed through some books while enjoying a snack!
Ms Hanson's class 1st math lesson in the books! So fun doing group work and coming up with strategies to sort and count a collection!
🚍 We know the first day of the three-tier schedule brought some challenges, while we continue to work to make improvements there is a free tool that can be helpful for families - the Here Comes the Bus app.
With this free app, parents can:
✅ See their child’s bus location on a map
✅ Get alerts when the bus is near your stop or school
✅ Gain peace of mind with notifications when the bus arrives in your area
The good news is that traffic flow improved by 30 minutes in some areas after adjustments from day one. While we continue to make changes, the Here Comes the Bus app can provide extra confidence and convenience for families.

We are happy to announce that our Beginning-of-Year Information Packets for our RETURNING students are now all online and can be completed using any device with internet access, including phones with cellular data. Also, updates will now be synced directly into Infinite Campus once all information is verified at the school level. Please use the following directions to complete a Beginning of Year Information Updates application for EVERY RETURNING student attending a Pender County School. Parents/Guardians only have to complete one application for all their students! Just be sure that you add all students
in the one application.
New enrollments have already completed all of the information included in the B.O.Y. App. The
only time a new enrollment will need to complete the B.O.Y. App is if they have had a change in
address, phone, medical, or bus needs.

b. You may submit this application on your Parent Portal which can be accessed from the PCS website: pender.k12.nc.us and then Parent Portal.

Every question must be answered before the application will be submitted.

Please make sure to read all of the Release Agreements carefully. This platform replaces
paper forms for parents to complete and sign including: Chromebook Agreement, Medical
Release Agreement, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Annual Notification,
Field Trips Authorization
A Beginning of Year (BOY) Information Application must be submitted before your student(s)
will be issued a Chromebook. There will be no paper forms available.
