We are excited to share that our Nutritional Program has officially come to an end! 🎉

Throughout the program, the 21st CCLC students had a wonderful time learning about healthy food choices, balanced meals, and the importance of proper nutrition. They also gained valuable knowledge about kitchen safety and how to handle food responsibly.

It has been amazing to see their enthusiasm, curiosity, and growth as they explored new ideas about eating well and staying safe in the kitchen. The students truly enjoyed every part of the experience!

To celebrate their hard work and participation, each student has received a certificate of completion along with some fun goodies.

Today in Mrs. Johnson’s class, our Creative Curriculum guided us in making bird feeders while learning how and what birds eat. We talked about different types of bird food and how birds use their beaks to gather and eat their meals. We also created our very own Insect Class Book based on everything we have learned so far in our insect study. The students shared facts, drawings, and ideas to show their understanding!

In Mrs. Johnson’s class, our insect learning continues to grow! 🐞🦋 We completed a story sequencing activity for The Very Hungry Caterpillar, practicing our comprehension skills by retelling the events in order. Students also measured different insects while comparing and contrasting their similarities and differences — great hands-on math and science connections! We also designed 3-D egg carton caterpillars, and we wrapped it all up with some fantastic writing during Semester 2 of Fundations.

Mrs Robertson's preschool class in continuing their insect study. During large group they had to experiment with working in groups and moving like an insect with six legs and three body parts. We made one group a spider with 8 legs. Children engaged in multiple activities including write the room, measuring insects, writing letters/words in salt, counting insects, painting ladybugs, and much more.

Our 21st CCLC students became structural engineers during a hands-on STEM challenge! Using only toothpicks and marshmallows, students had 15 minutes to design and build a structure that could withstand an “earthquake.” We tested their creations by shaking the desk to see which designs stayed standing. Through this activity, students explored how Earth’s changes impact buildings while practicing teamwork, problem-solving, and the engineering design process.

This week in the 21st CCLC program, our students investigated magnets: they predicted which objects would be attracted, tested them, and discovered the results. We learned the “magnetic rule,” made a temporary magnet by aligning electrons, and played a lively game to visualize magnetic fields.  Our young scientists did an excellent job thinking, testing, and exploring!
