Today, Mrs. Johnson’s class took on a fun prediction challenge as part of our Building Study! Each student voted on which material they thought would create the tallest building, then put their ideas to the test by constructing their own designs. The red cups came out on top! Students exercised their brains by experimenting with different strategies to build strong foundations and tall towers. It was such a fun and engaging learning experience!

In an effort to accommodate the educational preferences of families in the Pender County School District, officials have opened the reassignment request period for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. Parents who wish to enroll their students in a Pender County school outside of their designated zone, with the exception of Pender Early College and Pender Innovative Learning Academy, are encouraged to participate in the application process.
Due to schools in the Topsail and Surf City school districts being over capacity, no new applications will be accepted. However, students who currently attend these schools on reassignment will have the opportunity to complete an application. Specific guidance on completing this application process will be provided by your student’s school.
The application period opens on January 5, 2026, allowing parents time to consider alternative educational options for their children. The deadline for submitting reassignment requests is February 28, 2026.

Students in the 21st CCLC after-school program created paper plate mazes using creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. They designed paths, tested their mazes, and made improvements to help a marble reach the finish. This hands-on activity helped students practice critical thinking, planning, and perseverance while having fun.

21st Century Community Learning Center students recently participated in their first nutritional visit with Pender County nutritionist, Mrs. Rivenbark. The engaging session focused on kitchen safety, healthy eating options, and the importance of making informed nutritional choices. Students also enjoyed a hands-on activity creating edible Play-Doh, which reinforced lessons in food safety, collaboration, and healthy food preparation in a fun and meaningful way.
