Today in Library 2nd Grade read Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers and talked about what friendship really means. After the story, students drew pictures to capture the ending and show how the boy and penguin’s friendship grew. Their artwork beautifully reflected understanding, empathy, and connection—proof that stories help us learn far beyond the pages.

In honor of our building study, we welcomed a special guest today! One of our parents visited to talk about his job as a welder. The students asked great questions and learned about welding tools, safety, and the structures he helps create. We loved learning how welders help build our community and the world!

Students work in teams to design and build the longest paper chain using limited materials. This quick, hands-on STEM challenge builds problems-solving, teamwork, and creative thinking skills while making learning fun.

On Friday, we had an exciting celebration honoring our incredible multilingual students as they gear up for the ACCESS test next week! Guest speaker Jose Herrera, a dedicated Communities in Schools partner, energized the room by sharing his inspiring personal journey and motivating words that uplifted and empowered our students. Thank you to our PTA for providing treats and juice for our students.

We’re working our way toward our Million Minute Reading Goal! Now’s a great time to get caught up in a good book and add those minutes. Let’s keep reading!

Reminder that school will be closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

First and second grade classes enjoyed a fun field trip to Thalian Hall to see Pied and Piper perform Jack and the Beanstalk.

Big news! ALL THREE of our Science Fair groups are headed to REGIONALS!
So proud of the hard work, creativity, and dedication these students showed. Way to go!
