Good afternoon Pender County Schools families.

We’re keeping a close eye on the dropping temperatures expected across the area Sunday night and into Monday morning. At this time, we plan to operate on a normal school schedule Monday.

We will continue monitoring conditions throughout the weekend. If anything changes, we will share updates with families as soon as possible through our usual communication channels.

Please stay warm!

Conley is a 3rd grader at South Topsail Elementary. He was nominated for showing kindness to his classmates throughout the school day.

Conley often looks for ways to help others, especially students who are new to STE. He makes sure they feel included in activities and checks in when he notices something that doesn’t seem fair. Staff members say he is quick to step in and support younger students who may feel unsure or need a friendly face.

His actions help create a school environment where students feel comfortable and welcome.

Outside of school, Conley enjoys lacrosse and farming. His favorite food is a PBJ, and his favorite color is green. At home, he has a dog named Rogue and three cats—Spike, Sparkles, and Cruise. Conley says he hopes to become a farmer so he can care for animals and crops, and also a police officer so he can help people.

✨TEACHER TUESDAY✨Ms. Morgan Bohrer teaches 1st grade at Surf City Elementary. Colleagues describe her as someone who is dependable and easy to work with. She’s quick to share what she knows, especially when the team is learning new tools. This year, she has helped her grade level with Infinite Campus and Planbook, taking time to walk others through steps and troubleshoot when needed. Her support has made day-to-day tasks easier for the team.

In the classroom, Ms. Bohrer looks for ways to keep students engaged in their lessons. Recently, she noticed that many students needed extra practice with number recognition. Instead of repeating the same routine, she planned a “50s Day” for the entire grade level. Students reviewed numbers 1–50 while participating in simple themed activities. The team will join together for this event, giving students a fun, hands-on way to practice important math skills.

Thank you, Ms. Bohrer, for the time and care you put into supporting your students and your team at Surf City Elementary.💙💛
