**TMS ATHLETICS UPDATE** - Our Boys Soccer game today is being moved back to the THS Stadium. This game will still be FREE to attend.

**TMS ATHLETICS** Our Boys Soccer game vs BMS on February 26, 2026 will be played on the practice field (See Picture) This game will be FREE to attend. Seating is limited, please bring your own chair if possible.

What a day for our 8th graders—learning beyond the classroom in Raleigh! They toured the Capitol building, explored the Natural Science Museum, visited the Legislative Building, and enjoyed Freedom Park. These real-world experiences strengthen civic awareness and curiosity—key skills for future leaders.

This visit was a calculated success!
Members of the NC Exceptional STEM Club stopped by Mrs. Czepiel’s math class to lead fun and engaging division activities.

We are so proud of our Topsail Middle School MathCounts Team for earning 🥉 3rd place overall at the Southeast North Carolina Chapter Competition!

Proud moment for our school community: two members have published books and copies are now available in the school library. Mr. Collins, our CTE teacher, authored Magic of Fren, and 8th grader Sam Bartholomew published Legend Keeper: Legend of the Demon Brute. Both titles are available on Amazon — and we also encourage staff and students to borrow our library copies. Celebrating and supporting authors at every stage fosters a strong culture of literacy and creativity.

TMS SPORTS: Our final athletic season of the school year is less then a month away. Baseball and Volleyball will begin on March 11 - please make sure all necessary requirements are met in order to try out.

🌟 Feature Friday: Employee Spotlight 🌟

This week we’re recognizing Ms. Madison Catalano, EC Teacher (Grades 6–8) at Topsail Middle School.

As a new teacher, Ms. Catalano has already made a strong impression. She works hard to support her students and shows that she truly cares about their success. She plans engaging lessons, encourages students throughout the day, and brings a positive, steady attitude into the classroom.

Ms. Catalano is also a great coworker. She communicates well, includes others in the work, and is always willing to offer encouragement and support. Her approach helps create a team environment where people feel connected and supported.

What an unforgettable day for Mrs. Vickers' 5th grade homeroom! They dominated the Malcolm Mitchell Read Bowl with an astounding 16,631 minutes. This achievement highlights effective student engagement, classroom culture, and literacy-focused leadership. We were honored to welcome former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Brad Roach, who presented awards and connected with our top readers — a meaningful experience that reinforces the value of reading and mentorship.

Day 2 of the 6th grade field trip = a huge success!

Our 6th graders had an amazing Day 1 at iFLY! Students stepped into the vertical wind tunnel to:

➗Apply algebraic thinking to understand proportional relationships (math, yay!) ➗
📊Investigate variability, uncertainty, and error in experimental results (science & math, yay!) 📊
Seeing concepts come to life made learning unforgettable—more pictures to come from the rest of our 6th graders going tomorrow and Thursday!

Mrs. Losey's 7th grade students have been learning about the different types of protists. Students made 3D models of protists and participated in an art show gallery walk, giving feedback to other students.
