Thanks to our amazing PTO for providing the opportunity for our TMS students to raise money and participate in our color run fundraiser event today! Monday is the last raffle drawing. Keep getting pledges through the weekend to earn tickets for Monday. The Apple Airpods are still up for grabs. The overall top earner will take those home on Monday! Way to go Pirates for making our goal!

Mrs. Gleason and Mrs. Losey 7th grade science classes worked on their " Weather In Motion Projects" this week. Students used a sphero robots to model the movement of air masses and fronts across a weather map. Then, created a weather broadcast to explain how the different weather systems will impact daily life in a particular area in the US.

Ms. Crocker's 6th grade Social Studies class participated in a simulation called Nomads vs. Farmers. Students were able to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of living a nomadic lifestyle and building a civilization that is learning to farm during the Paleolithic and Neolithic Eras. Students were able to utilize the vocabulary they learned to reflect on their experience. It's a great day to be a TMS PIRATE!

PTO color run began this week. Parents, be sure you have registered your student at mybooster.com and start sharing your link to gather pledges. Students earn 1 raffle ticket for every $30 raised. 🎉 Student Spotlight - Lexi! 🎉 Let’s give some love to Lexi, a shining star in the 7th grade at Topsail Middle School! 🌟 Ms. Jennifer Medwick, her math teacher, nominated Lexi for her incredible leadership and kind heart. Lexi shows up to class each day with a smile, ready to learn, and is always willing to lend a helping hand. 💛 Lexi’s kind gestures, like helping her teacher clean up the classroom at the end of every class without being asked, truly make her a role model for her peers. TMS is participating in collecting donations for Western NC. Donations of bottled water, nonperishable food items, personal hygiene products, and cleaning supplies can be dropped off at TMS and will be delivered to Pender EMS on Wednesday morning. #ONEPENDER

Pender County Schools is closely monitoring the weather conditions related to Hurricane Helene. A decision regarding Friday’s schedule will be made by noon on Thursday. Last Friday, Mrs. Burgess and Mrs. Dinkins' classes got the opportunity to go surfing with IndoJax at Surf City. Thank you to the Surf City fire department for all their assistance and to the Lamb Foundation for making this trip possible!
