Her favorite subject to teach? English! She loves discussing books and inspiring students to find joy in reading—her daily goal! 📖
Ms. Henry’s career is filled with countless special moments, from earning her National Board Certification and Doctorate degree 🎓 to the daily joys of connecting with students—whether it’s fist bumps, waves, or watching them shine in extracurricular activities.
Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading (often in her hot tub!), painting landscapes & animals, and spending time with her 10-year-old Jack Russell, Isabel—her "daughter" in a house full of boys! 🐶💖
Her favorite travel spots? Walt Disney World 🏰✨ and anywhere in the Caribbean. ☀️🌊
Her teaching philosophy? "The influence of a good teacher lasts forever." 🌟
🎉 Thank you, Ms. Henry, for your dedication to education and for inspiring a love of reading in your students! 👏

One of our students, James Russell has had two artworks selected to be part of a juried student art exhibition, and one of his artworks "Pondering" has won first place! Here is some information below as well as the attached artwork!
"On behalf of this year’s juror, Abir Mohsen, Ceramics and Sculpture Instructor at Fayetteville Technical Community College, we are thrilled to announce that all submissions from our school have been selected for inclusion in the UNC Pembroke 44th Annual Juried High School Art Exhibition at the A.D. Gallery!
A juried art show is a prestigious exhibition where submitted artworks are reviewed and selected by an expert juror based on artistic quality, creativity, and execution. Being chosen for inclusion is a significant honor, as it reflects the artist's talent, dedication, and skill. It also highlights the importance of artistic mentorship and celebrates the encouragement provided by dedicated art teachers.
James Russell, an 11th-grade student, had two outstanding works selected for this exhibition: Lost and Pondering. This is an incredible achievement and a testament to James’s artistic vision and hard work.
The exhibition will be held from March 20 to 28, 2025, with a reception on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and an awards ceremony at 12:30 p.m.
University of North Carolina at Pembroke
The UNC-Pembroke's A.D. Gallery celebrates the creative achievements of regional high school students through this professionally organized exhibition. The show not only honors student talent but also acknowledges the crucial role of art education in nurturing young artists.
To learn more about the exhibition, visit: UNCP 44th Annual Juried High School Art Exhibition
Congratulations again to James and all participating students! We are proud of your accomplishments and look forward to seeing your continued artistic growth."

Topsail Families
The NC Department of Public Instruction in conjunction with ACT have given schools the go-ahead to schedule a redo of the ACT. At this time Pender County Schools has decided to administer the ACT on March 19th. All students that were registered for the March 11 test date will be reregistered by ACT in order to retest. This includes students who may have been absent or arrived late.
Any newly enrolled students will be registered for the next ACT window and that information will be communicated with families and students on a case by case basis.
The process for the March 19th redo will be the same as the March 11th . All students should try and arrive on campus by 8:30 in order to begin testing promptly at 9. Students arriving after 9 will have to make up the test on a later date.
We apologize for the inconvenience and frustrations this reschedule has may have caused.
If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Kline , the school's testing coordinator
