In Visual Arts, students are currently practicing their skills with colored pencils, focusing on blending and value to create form. Their hard work and creativity will be on display at the showcase, and we can’t wait to share their autumn-inspired artwork with you!

Corporal Kunselman prepares to do battle with Mr. Sandrik’s American History assessment.
For NC Arts in Education week, General Music has been learning about instrument families and the Hornbostel-Sachs classifications. Each student then selected an instrument and gave an in depth presentation to the class to work on public speaking skills. Great job to those who have already presented!
8th grade scientists in Mrs. Smith’s class put their problem-solving skills to the test by devising and carrying out plans to separate mixtures using filtration, magnetism, evaporation, and sifting!
As part of NC Arts in Education week, the 8th grade band is preparing for the Pender County Marching Band Showcase next Tuesday, September 23rd! The band will be playing with the other middle schools in Pender County after each high school performs their halftime show. This is a free event and we hope to see you there!

Today, we are showcasing the Theatre Arts classes for National Arts week. Students are engaging in scripted conversations through which they are creating short scenarios. Our 7th graders are preparing for the Fall showcase on October 29. It will feature short skits created by the theatre arts students to ominous music by the 7th grade band.

Congratulations to the football team on their 40-6 victory over Penderlea Middle. The Sharks were led with touchdowns by Roberto De'leon, Colby Roberts, and Maddox Coleman. The extra point was scored by Mateo Diaz. Our cheerleaders brought the energy, and our PTA rocked the concession stand! It's going to be an awesome season!! Go Sharks!!

Tomorrow is our Frenzy Sorting Day, and students new to our school will find out in which Shark Frenzy they are: Tigers, Makos, Spinners, Threshers, Bulls, or Hammerheads! 7th and 8th graders, PLEASE wear your Frenzy color tomorrow, so that your group can welcome your new members with the best Frenzy spirit. It's going to be a great day!
