🎨🎶🎭✨ Help us celebrate National Arts in Education Week | September 14–20, 2025 ✨🎭🎶🎨
In 2010, Congress passed House Resolution 275, designating the week beginning with the second Sunday in September as National Arts in Education Week. During this week, communities across the country come together to advocate, educate, and celebrate the transformative power of the arts in education.
At Surf City Middle School, we’re celebrating the creativity of our talented Sharks! 🦈 This week we’ll be spotlighting Visual Arts, Band, Theater Arts, and General Music.
Today, we’re highlighting our visual art students, who just completed an Identity Project using “Hello My Name Is” tags. Instead of using words, students drew symbols and images to represent who they are. This project was not only a fun introduction to the year, but also an opportunity to explore symbolism in art and learn more about each other. 💡🎨
Stay tuned all week as we showcase the incredible ways our students shine through the arts! 🌟

We're excited to welcome all new 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to our Frenzy System this Friday 9/12! This system is our way of building community, character, and competition through positive choices at Surf City Middle. Students will be sorted into their shark groups at a morning celebration on the field from 8:45-9:15am. Does your new student need to be absent that day? Not to worry--they'll be sorted when they return to school next week. Thank you for your support!

It's been a great start to the school year at Surf City Middle. Thank you all for your continued support in helping get our students to and from school in a safe and orderly manner. Please remember that car riders must be picked up and dropped off in front of the school at the curb. Help us continue to keep our students monitored and safe. Please check this week's updates in the Shark Bites!
