We're still on the hunt for a music teacher, but while we wait this can be heard in our hallways; "I hope it's Tuesday because I love going to music, Ms. Travers is so funny!" Thank you Ms. Travers for being awesome and teaching our Sea Turtles to love music.


These Kindergarten kids are rock solid! For the 5th week of school, they're masters at checking out their own books in the library. Very impressive!


4th graders are working on their butterfly collages in art. They're working on symmetry, texture, balance and blending while using pastels, acrylic paint and tempera paint. Can't wait to see how these turn out.


Love an early morning on a Friday, the library is busy with kids stocking up on books for the weekend. 🥰


Our Sea Turtle of the Week for Sept 19-23 is Everett from Mrs. Edens' 2nd grade class. Your school is proud of you, Everett.


It's a busy day over here at SCE...2nd graders working on hard on their number sense, Kinder kids taking a break brain after their instruction, 5th graders adding & subtracting decimals and 4th graders enjoying friendship over lunch. It's a great day to be a Sea Turtle!





We are participating in a calendar fundraiser in conjunction with Surf City Fire Department and SCE PTA. K-5 will draw fire safety related pictures for the calendar; each grade will have a different topic to focus on.
K - Firefighters are community helpers ( How do they help our community)
1st - Get out, Stay out ( Getting out of their house, to their meeting spot)
2nd - Stay away from hot things ( What things would they find in their home that would be hot and not play with)
3rd - Stop, drop, and roll (what do you do when your clothes are on fire)
4th - Craw low and go ( If smoke is in your home and you are getting out)
5th - Smoke alarms are important ( how to test them / where they should be located in your home)


Our Sea Turtle of the Week for the week of Sept 12-16 is William from Mrs. Curry's 1st grade class. Mrs. Curry is proud of all the great things you're doing in the classroom. Keep up the great work!


We're excited to start our Sea Turtle of the Week program this school year. Last week we had our first student nomination. Congratulations to Charlotte in 4th grade. Mrs. Parrish was honored to choose you for your hard work and awesome personality. Charlotte, your school is proud of you!


We are so thankful to have this new groups of Sea Turtles in Kindergarten this year. They come into school happy each day and ready to learn. We're also thankful for their teachers who make learning fun.

Congratulations to Mrs. Burnett's 3rd grade class for winning the first GOLDEN trash can award this school year. Mr. Jeff has noticed them working extra hard to pick up after themselves while also keeping their supplies neat & organized so he can effectively clean after school.


We are gearing up for another Fall season of Girls on the Run to begin Monday 9/26th! Practices will be held Mondays and Wednesdays immediately after school from 2:30-4pm, with an end-of-season 5k on Saturday 12/10. All running levels are encouraged!! Register here shorturl.at/QW089


5th graders are enjoying a game of Head of the Class this week in library to help become familiar with library lingo. A student places one card on their forehead without looking at the card. They give clues to help the student guess the vocabulary word printed on it.
