4th graders are working on their butterfly collages in art. They're working on symmetry, texture, balance and blending while using pastels, acrylic paint and tempera paint. Can't wait to see how these turn out.

We are participating in a calendar fundraiser in conjunction with Surf City Fire Department and SCE PTA. K-5 will draw fire safety related pictures for the calendar; each grade will have a different topic to focus on. K - Firefighters are community helpers ( How do they help our community) 1st - Get out, Stay out ( Getting out of their house, to their meeting spot) 2nd - Stay away from hot things ( What things would they find in their home that would be hot and not play with) 3rd - Stop, drop, and roll (what do you do when your clothes are on fire) 4th - Craw low and go ( If smoke is in your home and you are getting out) 5th - Smoke alarms are important ( how to test them / where they should be located in your home)
