Our Girls on the Run team is working hard each week during their practice days and learning valuable life lessons. Keep up the great work girls!

In guidance class, 2nd graders worked on positive thought posters. They wrote phrases to help them look on the bright side. This means, they have a positive attitude and believe in themselves.

This upcoming week is Special Needs Awareness Week and we are wearing yellow to show our support.

Check out these students who earned a positive referral. Your school is proud of you!

5th grade classes are finishing up their first makerspace project. They read The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind and created a maze where the marble had to be powered by wind. Some choose straws while others wired up fans. Students had criteria, constraints and ended with feedback.

To culminate Mental Health Awareness Week, students in grade 3 & 5 worked on reading scenarios about bullying and deciding how they can stand up for themselves and others. Great work kids!

Our Sea Turtle of the Week for Oct 3-7 is Justin from Mrs. Royal's' Kindergarten class. Your school is proud of you, Justin.

Scientific Method lab with Ms. Mizell's class.

Thanks SCE PTA for our delicious breakfast.

Volunteers from the NC State Extension Master Gardeners School Outreach program educated first graders on the components of soil. They will come back throughout the year to teach different topics. We are very thankful for their time and the children loved it!

Let Mrs. Hanson know that you have a super creative idea for the 2022-23 SCE Yearbook Cover. Draw a rough draft of it, then take it to her during your art class. She’ll give you a special sheet of paper for your final drawing. Use your amazing art skills and your design may be on the front of this year’s yearbook! Deadline for entry is October 21!

Some positive referrals to make this Wednesday even better.

Today, students learned that when they're feeling stressed, worried or angry, always talk to someone you trust or take a break and do something you enjoy.

Mrs. Pastore's third grade class is Falling for Fall! They've tackled acorn multiples, candy corn addition, descriptive writing, and completed their first book reports! We love our little Pumpkin Patch of learning.

Our students have started the year off with a bang. Keep on reading, readers!

Just some of the greatness around our school...keep being awesome sea turtles!
