Our first graders enjoyed their monthly visit from the Master Gardeners. They learned about trees and how they eat and grow and also learned about acorns and how squirrels love to hide them . Thank you ladies for a wonderful time.

Check out Mrs. Livesey's class working on their science fair project. They used glitter to learn about germs and how germs spread.

3rd grade science topic: ‘The Science of Slime,’ Mrs. Holmes' class used their knowledge of matter, molecules, and and properties of matter. They changed variables such as ingredients and amounts, and created 3 very different forms of slime— and sometimes the opposite of slime!

When your art teacher is losing her voice, she creatively tells the class!

Mrs. Taylor's first grade class is starting the week off right with random acts of kindness. They wrote cards for different adults in the building to let them know they're appreciated.

First graders in Ms. Hughes' class are getting ready for the Science fair and learning about germs at the same time! 🦠

Check out our first grade artists. Mrs. Hanson also taught them figure drawing but by using mixed media. They collaged and learned paintings techniques. One page was mixing salt with water colors while the other was sponge painting. Impressive work first graders!

Closing out this Tuesday with these sweet faces. Family & feast in Mrs. Taylor's 1st grade class 👪 😋 and thankful hats with a birthday celebration in Mrs. Harbin's Kindergarten class. 🎉💕

Check our our Kindergarten artists! Mrs. Hanson taught them figure drawing by using lines and shapes. They made a crayon resist background mixing primary colors to make secondary colors. Kindergarten, we're proud of you!

SCE & SCM Admin teams met with Surf City Police Department, Surf City Fire Department, Pender County Sheriff's Department and Emergency Management Personnel this morning to review safety plans. Thanks for keeping our schools safe!

Mrs. Hitchens' class learned about the Macy's Day Parade, read the book Balloons Over Broadway and then created their own balloons! Way to be creative second graders.

Friday is for learning! 3rd grade enjoyed reading, acting, and writing about the first thanksgiving, hardships, and its meaning for us today. Kindergarten made a “Y” yak craft to practice the letter Y they learned this week. Mrs. Malley worked with military kids where their handprints all symbolically displayed their support of service members. And 1st graders learned how to work cooperatively using math talk and hand signals.

We're happy to share with you that Elijah P. from Mrs. Wilkie's class is our Sea Turtle of the Week for the week of Nov 14-18. Elijah, your school is proud of you.

We're thankful for our awesome SRO Officer Wyke. While he is completing his safety checks, he stops to throw a football with our 5th graders during their recess. Thanks for having fun while keeping us safe!

4th grade is fun! From great book recommendations all the way to awesome math concepts!

Students in 3rd & 5th grade have been working on a project based on the book Balloons Over Broadway. They had 3 weeks to design, build and code a robot with a balloon attached for the Thanksgiving parade this week. Check out some pictures of their creations and a short video here https://youtube.com/shorts/ydsH_WBlmhM

Our new street signs have been put up in the hallways. Besides being super cute, these signs will help students find their classrooms easier at the beginning of the school year as well as new students enrolling during the year and help parents identify classrooms when they're visiting the school.
