
Congratulations to Coach Devon and her Girls on the Run team! They had their end of season 5K race over the weekend and the girls rocked it! Elise B, in 4th grade, came in first in her age group! Some other top ten age group finishers were, Lexi G., Yvonne G., Audrina L., Makayla P. and Charlotte D.

EC students from SCE and across the county came together Friday for the annual Exceptional Children prom. They were able to enjoy a fun filled sensory friendly afternoon full of dancing and socializing with their peers. Great job Pender County, a great time was had by all!

4th Graders enjoyed their field trip to the Cape Fear Museum today where they learned about magnetism, electricity & many other things!





Students in grade 3-5 read the book Santa's New Sleigh and then got right to work in the maker space to create a sphero powered sleigh. They had criteria and constraints to follow as they built and tested. Next up, coding the sphero to deliver the presents from the sleigh.

First grade enjoyed their field trip to Airlie Gardens on this beautiful December day.





Our 5th graders are integrating art into their science vocabulary lessons. Teachers, great job keeping the learning interesting and engaging for these budding scientists.


We're ready to show off some more art work from our 2nd & 3rd graders. 2nd grade learned a little about Vincent van Gogh's sunflower paintings then created a mixed media collage using tempera paint, watercolors and crayons .
3rd grade learned how to draw sea turtles and paint them using warm and cool colors. They learned about a watercolor technique using salt on wet watercolors to create the ocean background.





It just makes our day that we have so many positive referrals rolling in. These kids continue to be great role models and we couldn't be more proud.


Before we announce the science fair winners, we want to say a big thank you to our SCM students, Mr. Allen and Mrs. Robbins, all who helped judge these awesome projects.

Congratulations to Mrs. Holt's 3rd grade class. They're the most recent winner of the Golden Trash Can award. Mr. Jeff said that they always keep their room neat and organized and it's a pleasure to clean their room each day.

Mrs. McDonald's class read the book A Little Spot of Confidence today. Their class did a directed drawing, and wrote about their Spot of Confidence. I am brave. I am loving. I am kind. I can do it! Then they added a Spot of Confidence to their hands as a reminder.


Our 5th graders were invited by UNCW to attend the women's basketball game today. They were joined by other schools around Pender County as well as Brunswick & New Hanover County schools. They had a great time cheering on the team. 🏀
