Students in Mrs. Hart's 3rd grade class selected and researched a planet. They used their research to create a poster and 3D model of their plants. Look at these proud scientists and their final products. 🪐🌍

Mrs. McDonald's Kindergarten class is busy this week. In their ELA lesson they used character puppets to work on hearing repeated language in the book “The Little Red Hen”. In math, they decomposed shapes and made new shapes. The students then counted the parts. Way to go!

Second graders in Mrs. Edens’ class are exploring their classroom and identifying right angles by using a post it note to help. Keep up the great work mathematicians!

We're happy to announce that our SCE Safety Patrol is fully functioning! These responsible 5th graders help keep our school environment safe by reminding kids of our SURF rules in the hallway as well as help any new students find their way to class. Check them out passing out stickers to students who were SURFing down the hallway!

Mrs. Burnett's 3rd grade class is busy at work! For their Wit and Wisdom lesson, students created a Tableau (living statue) to depict point of view from their book, Moon Shot. Each group showed the point of view of Launch Control, Mission Control, the public, and the astronauts of the Apollo 11 space mission 🚀🧑🏻🚀

Mrs. Hitchens's 2nd grade class started a new math module about shapes. They practiced making shapes with spaghetti!

Help support our awesome PTA. ➡️ SCE PTA is hosting spirit night this Thursday Jan 25th from 4pm-close at SurfDog Bites & Brews on the island.

Our makerspace is low on materials. ⚠️ If you have anything lying around your house that you want to get rid of, or materials in your recycling bin, the makerspace will take them!

Mrs. Taylor's first grade class enjoyed playing roll a question to create questions they have about their new book, “Sea Horse: The Shyest Fish In The Sea”. 🕮

Shout out to these homerooms for having 95% (or above) attendance for the week of Jan 15-19. ✨ Keep up the great work. ✨

More Curriculum Night Pictures!

SCE's Curriculum Night was a success! Our teachers worked hard to prepare for this event and many families came to learn about the curriculums guiding our instruction.

Check out Mrs. Graham's Kindergarten class using shape collector puzzles to determine parts of a whole.
