
Mrs. Smith's First Grade is wrapping up the Wit and Wisdom module called Creature Features. Working in collaborative groups, the kids created a jumbo trading card with a picture and written details about an animal from the module. Way to go, learners! 🦛🦍






⭐🌟During the most recent Board of Education meeting, students from Surf City Elementary, Topsail Annandale Elementary and Topsail Middle were recognized for advancing to the State level of the Science Fair this weekend at NC State. Mrs. Horne's fifth graders participated in a Socratic seminar in ELA, discussing the causes of the Civil War. Their debates were supported by text evidence and background knowledge, many of which successfully defended their responses.



Mrs. Burnett's 3rd grade mathematicians are enjoying some hands on math by using fraction bars to help them find equivalent fractions.




Mrs. McDonald’s Kindergarten class is busy today! They drew 4 emojis representing how the house felt throughout the book, The Little House. The final feeling is 😃 because the house has been moved out of the city to the quiet countryside again! They also worked on a great spring display for their hallway bulletin board.

Busy week in Mrs. Gray's 3rd grade class! They are learning about and making models of landforms while also learning about comparing fractions greater than a whole on a number line. Keep up the great work!

Check out these awesome students in Mrs. Rice's 4th grade class. Students worked in small groups to create a skit about the novel, Hatchet. The main character, Brian, has a decision to make. Once completed, the groups performed their skits for the class.







Kindergarten was busy today! Mrs. McDonald's class worked in pairs to find details in their book, The Little House. They have been working on topic sentences and key details. 📚 Across the hall, Mrs. Harbin's class worked on a St. Patricks Day science experiment with Leprechaun rocks. They poured “magic potion” (vinegar) on their rocks and found gold coins. ☘️









Second grade loves mystery readers! Mrs. Livesey shares some time in Mrs. Allen’s second grade class with a wonderful book called, “What Would You Do With A Chance?", all about being brave, letting go of fear, and taking a chance.

The Master Gardner's visited first grade this week. Their lesson this month was all about plants and what a plant needs to grow. Mrs. Bricken's class planted some dandelion seeds to grow for the sea turtles at the Sea Turtle Hospital. 🐢

Yesterday was a busy day at SCE. Our PreK through 2nd grade classes enjoyed a performance by the wonderful music artist, Zak Morgan, while our amazing Kindergarten team pulled off a fun Kinder Registration event in Rocky Point right after school.





Mrs. Meadow's PreK class is enjoying their Tuesday in more ways than one. First, they enjoyed a science experiment with their special friend Charlie. Second, the class helped put together a learning toy purchased with their Jones Onslow Grant. Enjoy your day, PreK!
