In STEAM, Mrs. Potts kindergarten class is learning how the engineering design process works as they got to imagine, plan, create, test, and improve on a bed for baby bear. This engineering challenge is based on the story Goldilocks and the One Bear. They all made the "perfect" beds for their baby bear!
Mrs. Allen’s I&E reading group is taking advantage of the nice spring weather and new picnic tables and practicing grammar skills and parts of speech by doing silly mad libs with partners.

Thanks to Mr. Judy and part of the 6th grade band for coming over to talk to our 5th graders about the opportunity to join band next year in middle school. It was also great to see so many former Sea Turtle faces again, they're doing great things next door! 🎷🥁🎺

We’re all unique, and that’s what makes us awesome. #WorldAutismAwarenessDay

April Fools from 2nd Grade Teachers! After reading about a bird called the “Lirpa Loof,” how it migrates from Montana to the East Coast, loves marshmallows (because they remind it of the nectar from its favorite flower the Monkey Flower- of course), and how it will come land on an open palm when you imitate its call “liirrrrp”, students attempted to lure the elusive (and made up) bird to them at recess.

Mrs. Burnett's 3rd grader are busy this Wednesday analyzing the poetry of William Carlos Williams. 📝
Fifth graders enjoyed their day at Penderlea Farms for Agriculture Day! Students were introduced to many different topics and hands-on activities. From master gardeners to farming drones and goats, they had an opportunity to learn about the farming community and get a firsthand glimpse into the world of farming and agriculture. 👩🌾🚜

Mrs. Morgan's class has been studying about immigration. These students are dressed as their chosen immigrant, whom they researched, and created a project on. They were part of the 3rd grade Student Showcase Living Wax Museum.

Good afternoon Surf City Families,
Your child is bringing home a Pender County Schools Transportation Form today. The information on this form helps the transportation team plan bus routes for next school year.
Here’s what to do:
* If your child already has a bus stop and nothing will change next year, simply circle “Yes” on all questions and return the form by April 16th. You do NOT need to complete the online survey.
* If you need to make changes for next year, circle “No” and fill out the updated information on the paper form. Please also complete the online survey using this link:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScRS35Z5ZiD-UhdPnbQBH4u0LqlwRRk5NVgcAPkWWIzSNpX7Q/viewform?usp=header
This also needs to be done by April 16th.
Thank you for helping us plan for next year's transportation!
Thank you!

If your student is heading to Surf City Middle School in the 2025-2026 school year, you might want to jump on this chance to grab some Shark Gear early!

In Mrs. Horne's 5th grade ELA, students had the opportunity to research topics based on their current novel, "A River Between Us." Students researched topics such as WWI and the Ford Model T, as well as recreating scenes from the Civil War! Some students even created props for their plays! This was a creative way to not only learn about historical events but to understand how events affect characters throughout a story.
