Tonight we celebrated our 8th grade cheerleaders 🖤💛
From first cheers on the sidelines to leading our crowd with confidence and heart — you’ve grown into incredible leaders. Your spirit, dedication, and love for the Hornets have left a mark that won’t be forgotten.
Thank you for the memories, the energy, and the pride you brought every single game. Once a Hornet, always a Hornet. 🐝✨

Good afternoon families,
Due to the forecasted weather, we will be moving the start time of our home game today against West Pender up to 3:45 pm. We will play as much of the game as possible, hopefully the entire game. We will still have the girls basketball game tip off at 4:30 pm. The recognition of all 8th grade cheerleaders, girls basketball players, and boys soccer players will be at the conclusion of the girls basketball game inside the gym.
Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

Ready for lift-off! 🚀 Our 21st CCLC students had a BLAST during a Rocket Launch STEM lesson. They engineered paper rockets, used a straw + their breath as fuel, ran multiple trials, and compared distances. Along the way they learned the three parts of a rocket—cone, fins, and fuselage—and key science words: thrust, lift, drag, and weight.

Ms. Sapp’s third graders earned a special reward for their outstanding behavior—a guest reader! Mr. Harris visited the class and read their new Wit & Wisdom book, “The Keeping Quilt” by Patricia Polacco. The story, part of their “New Home” module, was a wonderful way to celebrate their hard work while connecting to themes of family, tradition, and belonging. The students were excited to welcome their guest and enjoyed hearing the story brought to life! 📖

Question: Are you reading with your student today? 📚❤️
Road to the Championship Reading Tournament is underway — Round 1 runs now through Feb. 28! Whether your child reads independently or you read together, those minutes can help Penderlea earn points. Points are calculated from the average minutes per student/staff member, so every minute matters.

Dr. Breedlove will be traveling to Wales to visit schools abroad. Students across Pender County Schools are invited to submit ONE thoughtful question for a chance to have Dr. Breedlove answer in a short vlog while he is in Wales. We will play the vlog during the announcements. Next week, students will be able to submit their questions. Questions can be submitted individually or as a class. https://tinyurl.com/witwidb
Questions should be thoughtful and respectful. They can be about schools and learning, culture and daily life, food, history or landmarks, or leadership.
