🌊🐢 Our 1st Grade Eagles Took Learning to the Beach! 🦅
Today our 1st grade Eagles had an amazing adventure visiting the beach for a hands-on learning experience about sea turtles. Students were excited to explore the shoreline while learning about turtle habitats, conservation, and why these incredible animals are so important to our ecosystem. Seeing and learning about turtles up close made the experience even more meaningful and brought their science learning to life. Experiences like this help our Eagles connect classroom learning with the world around them. What a wonderful day of discovery and exploration! 🌞🌊🐢

Our 4th grade Eagles had an amazing opportunity to visit the symphony today, and they truly had the time of their lives! Students were able to experience the power of live music and see how different instruments come together to create beautiful sounds. It was a wonderful way to connect what they are learning in the classroom to a real-world experience. The excitement and smiles on their faces said it all! Experiences like this help our Eagles grow their appreciation for the arts while making unforgettable memories. 🎶🦅

The Raleigh Rockers stopped by the nest and brought an exciting burst of energy to our MCE Eagles! Students had a fantastic time enjoying the music, movement, and fun atmosphere created by our special guests. The visit was full of smiles, laughter, and memorable moments for everyone involved. Opportunities like this make learning and school experiences even more engaging for our students. Our PACES after-school students had an amazing time celebrating reading and creativity this week! Students read their own stories using **Dr. Seuss rhyming words**, letting their imaginations run wild. They also had fun decorating **blue snickerdoodle cookies for “Fox in Socks”** and stacking **bananas and strawberries to represent “The Cat in the Hat.”**
To top it all off, our Eagles used their creativity to **write and perform their own rap poems** inspired by the stories they read. It was an awesome week full of reading, creativity, and hands-on fun! 🦅✨📖

We saw lots of creativity with our wacky outfits and crazy socks, which brought plenty of smiles and laughter throughout the halls.
Today, our Eagles dressed as the career they hope to have as adults, and it was inspiring to see future teachers, doctors, firefighters, athletes, and so much more walking through our building! This week reminded us that reading can open the door to endless possibilities and future dreams. What a fun and exciting way to celebrate the joy of reading at Malpass Corner! 📖✨🦅

Our MCE Eagles had a wonderful time celebrating Read Across America Week with some very special guest readers! We were excited to welcome Mrs. Garza, Mr. Paquette, Dr. Breedlove, Dr. Oates, Dr. Taylor, and Mrs. Hanson into our media center to share their love of reading with our students. Our Eagles were fully engaged as they listened to great stories and enjoyed this special time with our guests.
Moments like these help inspire a love for reading and remind our students that books can take them anywhere. We are so thankful to our guest readers for taking the time to visit and support our Eagles. What a fantastic way to celebrate reading at MCE! 📖✨🦅

📚🦅 Battle of the Books Success!
Today was an exciting day as students from across Pender County came together to compete in the Battle of the Books! Our MCE Eagles were proud to represent our school and be part of such an amazing event. These dedicated students spent many hours reading, studying, and preparing for the competition, and they came ready to show what they know.
We are incredibly proud of their hard work, teamwork, and determination throughout this journey. Competing alongside other schools was a wonderful experience and a great opportunity to celebrate a love of reading.
A special thank you goes to our amazing coaches, Mrs. Long and Mrs. Trejo, for taking these students under their wing, guiding them along the way, and helping our Eagles truly SOAR! 📖✨

Our 5th grade Eagles recently had the opportunity to visit West Pender Middle School to get a taste of what middle school is all about. Students toured the campus, learned about classes and activities, and had the chance to ask questions about what they can expect next year. It was an exciting experience that helped our Eagles begin preparing for the transition to middle school.
Visits like this help build confidence and excitement for the next step in their academic journey. We are proud of our 5th graders as they continue to SOAR and get ready for the next chapter! 🦅✨

PACES had an egg-cellent time kicking off Read Across America Week by enjoying green eggs and ham while reading Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss! Our students were all smiles as they tasted this fun treat and followed along with the classic story. It was a wonderful way to bring reading to life and make literacy both memorable and engaging.

Today our 21st CCLC students tapped into their creativity and participated in a fun painting activity! The room was filled with bright colors, big smiles, and lots of imagination at work. Not only were our Eagles creating beautiful pieces of art, but they were also making lasting memories with their friends.
We love seeing our students express themselves, build confidence, and enjoy hands-on learning experiences after school. Afterschool is truly a blast at MCE! 🦅💛

This week, we are proud to celebrate our incredible school social worker, Ms. Long! She is truly a shining MCE Eagle who works tirelessly to support our students and families each and every day. Ms. Long builds meaningful relationships, offers a listening ear, and provides resources that help our Eagles soar both academically and emotionally.
Her compassion, dedication, and heart for children make a lasting impact throughout our school community. Whether she is meeting with families, supporting students through challenges, or collaborating with staff, Ms. Long always shows up with kindness and professionalism.
