⚓ Today, Mr. Jones visited MCE to share valuable information about the United States Coast Guard and the important roles and responsibilities of its members. Our Eagles were excited to learn about how the Coast Guard protects our nation and serves our communities every day. Mr. Jones proudly served in the Coast Guard for 28 years and brought a wealth of knowledge and real-life experiences to share with our students. His stories sparked curiosity and meaningful conversations throughout the day. We are grateful for his service and for taking the time to inspire our students. Thank you, Mr. Jones, for an engaging and informative visit!
PCS Superbowl Reading Challenge begins January 24, 2026 to kick-off NFL Championship Weekend leading up to the Superbowl.
Rules:
1. Follow the PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge Guidelines.
2. Every thousand minutes logged per school will equal one touchdown with 7 points.
3. The school with the most touchdowns wins the game at the end of Superbowl Weekend (midnight, Feb 8, 2026).
4. Get your students and staff involved in the challenge.
5. Log reading minutes in PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge Google Form for each school found on Classlink.
6. We will share a weekly game board for tracking. We are looking to put it on the district website and go LIVE with weekly with the touchdowns - MORE TO COME 🏈🏈🏈

As the weather forecast continues to trend warmer Sunday into Monday, Pender County Schools will operate on a normal schedule on Monday, January 26th.
The latest information from the National Weather Service shows a "high confidence" of rain as temperatures warm on Sunday. We will continue to keep an eye on the weather and make any adjustments if necessary.

We had another exciting week at MCE! On Thursday, our students competed in the County Science Fair, and we are incredibly proud of the five amazing ladies who represented our school: Hope Shambly, Aurora Lopez Bautista, Lily Hollingsworth, Lyla Randall, and Indya Davis. These students truly spread their wings and showed what it means to be SOARing Eagles through their hard work and determination.
A huge congratulations to Indya Davis and Lyla Randall, who will advance to the next level and compete at UNCE in the regional competition—we are so proud of you! 🧪✨

Students at MCE are learning how to properly and respectfully handle the U.S. flag and the state flag. A huge thank you to our partnership with Pender High School JROTC and Mr. Themes for visiting MCE and bringing along some outstanding JROTC students. Our Eagles loved learning the correct procedures and the importance behind honoring our flags. We are grateful for this meaningful experience and the leadership shared with our Eagles! 🦅
