📚 The countdown is on—just 38 days until students on our traditional calendar return to school on Monday, August 24!
As we prepare for the 2026–27 school year, families are asked to complete their student’s Beginning of Year Information Update. This update is not required for newly enrolled students.
Keeping contact and emergency information current helps ensure a safe, smooth and successful start from day one.
We can’t wait to welcome our students back! 🚌✏️🏫

TitanTown 2026-2027 School Year Open House

This federally funded college-prep program serves eligible students at Pender Early College, Pender High, and Heide Trask High School through tutoring, mentoring, college visits, academic enrichment, and a six-week summer experience at Cape Fear Community College — all at ZERO cost to families.
Students are already making the most of the opportunity! Rising Pender Early College seniors Sal Madison and Maritza Mendoza were selected for the National Student Leadership Congress, where only 100 students from across the country were accepted. Maritza’s group even won the Mock Congress debate! 🙌
“TRIO has given me a lot of opportunities that I would’ve never thought I would’ve had,” Maritza said.

This week we’re recognizing Mr. Kirk Ohler, Assistant Principal at Heide Trask High School.
Mr. Ohler is a constant presence throughout the building. He spends time in classrooms, checks in with staff and students, and stays involved in the day-to-day work of the school. If a concern comes up, he takes it seriously and works to find a solution.
Staff know they can go to him with questions or issues, and he will follow through. Whether it’s a student concern, a building issue, or something related to instruction, he handles it in a steady and practical way. His experience shows in how he approaches situations and supports those around him.
His consistency and willingness to help allow teachers to stay focused on their classrooms and students.
💛💙 Thank you, Mr. Ohler, for the support you provide to the students and staff at Heide Trask High School.
