PACES after school would like to inform you that completing an application for PACES does not mean that your child is automatically enrolled. Only students' parents who have been contacted are added to the roster and allowed to attend. PACES will not be adding any more students to the roster until after Christmas break and those applicants will be notified by the first week of January.
This is a reminder if you need to change your child’s transportation arrangements, please send a note to your child’s teacher. If a change must be made by phone, please contact us by 2:00 pm. Additionally, there are no checkouts after 2:00pm. When signing your child out, please remain inside the office.

Yesterday our 2nd grade students learned about Plains Indians with Mr. Brett Butler. He showed students how tipis are set up, how animals were hunted, and how to make fire from friction.


5th graders had the opportunity to learn about Native American culture today. They built a tipi and learned how Native Americans lived off the land. It was a great way to wrap up Module 1!


Mrs. Robertson's preschool class has an ongoing study about trees. Through various activities children engaged in learning experiences that targeted ther objectives for development and learning. Check out some of the multi-modal activities that were implemented.

Monday, November 11th is Veterans Day. There is no school.
Parent and family focus groups for our PCS Strategic Plan Development will begin on November 12th. The survey is designed to help Pender County Schools gain valuable insight into the development of our five-year strategic plan.
The flu clinic will be at CFE on Tuesday, November 12th at 7:30 am. If you would like your child to have a flu shot here at school that will be given by the health department you will need to fill out an online permission form. Paper copies are also available by reqeust.
All 3rd, 4th, 5th grade will take the Reading Check-In's on Wednesday, November 13th to show what they know. If your child is absent they will have to make up the assessment when they return.
Dental Screening will begin for all Kindergarten students on Wednesday, November 13th. Please let your teacher know if you do not want your child to participate.
Fall school picture make-up day is scheduled for Thursday, November 14th.

Ms. Grochan's 4th Grade class celebrated earning their 50th paw print today with a special guest reader. Thank you to Mrs. Rogers for visiting from Kindergarten to read to our class!

Our Pre-K went to the Burgaw Library and then the park. They engaged in a scanner hunt to learn how the library works and how to locate sections of the library. They read stories and then did hands on fine motor , math, literacy, science and art learning activities.

The votes are in! To celebrate Election Day, Mrs. Hollifield's 2nd grade class held their own class election on favorite snacks. Students made voter registration cards, voted on ballots, and helped tally results.




First-grade students seized the opportunity to shape their sweet treats future by casting votes for their preferred candy candidate in the engaging "Candy Class Election".
We even had a special visitor that voted too... Mr. Greg!






Ms O’Carrolls homeroom received their reward for 25 paw prints with extra recess on a beautiful Friday!
