Mrs Robertsons preschool class began their tree study which included learning about parts of a tree, measuring the circumference of a tree, what trees provide, and more. Children engaged in a measuring activity pretending to be trees and measuring each others circumference then graphing measurements. They will extend the activity by measuring the circumference of the tree on their playground and making comparisons. Children also engaged in a write the room activity with tree study vocabulary using writing utensils on different surfaces and positions. This helps build fine motor muscles. Finally children engaged in a math activity where they cut and glued leaf shapes then counted how many of each shape they had (dividing the parts) and then adding up how many leaves they had in total.

📣 Good Afternoon, CFES Families!
Tomorrow, our 3rd–5th grade students will take the NC Math Check-In assessment. Please help your child start the day strong by ensuring they arrive on time — the tardy bell rings at 7:20 a.m., and testing begins promptly at 7:45 a.m.
Students who arrive after testing has started will wait in an alternate location and complete their test on a make-up day.
✅ A few reminders:
Encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep 💤
Make sure they eat breakfast 🍎 — at home or at school
Reach out to our testing coordinator if your child has a scheduled absence
Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we help our students show what they know! 💙
Today Mrs. Johnson’s class had fun using geometry concepts to measure the “circumference” of a tree and we also created shape trees!
