HAMPSTEAD, NC - North Topsail Elementary teacher April Kinlaw has been selected as the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM) 2021-22 Outstanding Elementary School Mathematics Teacher for the district.
“I have a passion for teaching math and helping students find ways to relate to math in their everyday lives.” Said Ms. Kinlaw.
A product of Pender County Schools, April Kinlaw graduated from UNCW with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. She has worked at North Topsail Elementary her entire career, starting as a kindergarten teacher for six years and spending the last 11 years teaching fifth grade.
With her selection Ms. Kinlaw has been invited to attend the NCCTM 2022 Annual Conference in Winston-Salem on November 10-11. A special recognition of all Outstanding Elementary Mathematics Teacher award recipients will take place during the Conference.
