BURGAW, NC - Now the the summer is over and students are returning to school, Pender Early College's Lillian Rousey has a great "what I did during my summer vacation" story.

Rousey was one of over 400 students to win a scholarship for a National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) scholarship. Through the program she studied Arabic in Jordan during the summer months.

NSLI-Y is a program of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.  Thousands of applicants from across the country applied for the scholarships.
