(Burgaw, NC) - The Pender County Board of Education has approved William "Jay" Lancaster III to take over as Chief Academic Officer. The Board of Education approved the hire during a special meeting on May 24, 2022.

Kevin Taylor was also approved as the new Chief Officer of Human Resources during the special Board meeting.

Mr. Lancaster takes over the position that became vacant when Dr. Charles Aiken accepted a position with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Most recently Mr. Lancaster served as the Licensure Specialist within the Human Resources Department for Danville (VA) Public Schools. He is scheduled to complete his doctoral degree in Educational Leadership at Liberty University in 2022. Mr. Lancaster holds degrees from Liberty University (M.Ed. Administration and Supervision), Emory & Henry College (BA - History). He also earned his Postgraduate Professional License (Virginia Department of Education) in Administration and Supervision as well as History and Social Studies.

Kevin Taylor currently serves as the Director of Student Services and Athletics. Mr. Taylor also previously served as the Principal of Pender Early College High School and has been involved in education for the last 22 years after earning degrees from East Carolina University (MAed - Health Education, BS - Exercise and Sports Science).

Mr. Taylor takes over for Dr. Alfredia Moore who announced her retirement earlier this year after 30 years in education, the last 16 with Pender County Schools.

Mr. Lancaster and Mr. Taylor will officially begin their new roles on July 1, 2022.
