Pender County Schools is inviting families, staff and community members to help guide how the district responds to continued growth across Pender County.

PCS is partnering with NC State University’s SchoolCAMP and OREd teams to provide independent technical support, data analysis and community engagement. The process will examine school assignment boundaries, future facility needs and other strategies to support students and schools as enrollment and communities grow.

Community priorities and values will be an important part of this work. Residents can participate by completing the PCS Community Priorities Survey and attending one or both of the district’s upcoming community forums.

Community Priorities Survey

The survey will ask community members to identify the challenges PCS should address or prevent, the values that should guide the planning process and the factors that should be considered when evaluating potential solutions.

The survey will be open from Monday, September 7, through Friday, September 18, 2026.

Individual responses will be combined and summarized by SchoolCAMP for the Pender County Board of Education and community. Names and identifying information will not be shared outside the SchoolCAMP staff assigned to the project. Email addresses will be collected only to prevent duplicate submissions.

Community members are encouraged to complete the survey and share the link with others throughout Pender County.

Community Forums

PCS will also hold two community forums to share information and provide additional opportunities for residents to participate in the planning process.

Both forums will begin at 6 p.m. at Topsail High School:

  • Tuesday, September 29, 2026

  • Thursday, November 19, 2026

Those unable to attend in person may watch the forums live on the Pender County Schools YouTube channel.

Additional information about the planning process and timeline is available HERE.

Questions about the survey may be directed to Linden Thayer, SchoolCAMP Research Scholar, at lmthaye2@ncsu.edu.
